Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil Breaks Silence on Split from AFLW Star Moana Hope

Maria Thattil has broken her silence amid reports of her split with partner Moana Hope.

After several months of whispers and speculation, it emerged on a Friday that the ex-Miss Universe Australia, aged 32, had apparently ended her 18-month relationship with her AFLW team player partner, who is 37, in a discreet manner.

Taking to her Instagram story on Saturday, Maria confirmed that the reports were true.

After sharing some advice on spray tanning, Maria disclosed that her relationship with Moana had come to an end and was no longer active.

In a change of topic, she continued, ‘Moana and I have enjoyed a wonderful connection, but it’s important for us to disclose that we’ve chosen to part ways separately now.’

Continuing, Maria said that the breakup, while difficult, was amicable.

Maria concluded her touching message by saying: “Although I’ll need to attend to work duties, understand that it’s not simple for me and ask for consideration regarding my privacy during this time.

On Friday, Confidential asserted that Moana and Maria had parted ways discreetly, following multiple whispers about a separation which ignited after they chose not to celebrate Christmas together.

In contrast, Maria recently shared with News Corp that despite the gossip, she was still deeply involved with Moana during that specific period.

Maria clarified to News Corp last week that contrary to the rumors, she was actually in a committed relationship with Moana at the time.

‘I’m not single,’ Maria said. ‘I’ve seen rumours… but that’s honestly all it is. 

‘We are good and excited for the year ahead. Excited for 2025 together and it’s going to be great.

‘Nothing has come from us. We are investing in ourselves.’

The pair also celebrated Maria’s 32nd birthday together just two weeks ago.

Moana and Maria have been at the centre of split rumours for months.

Last month, a well-known gossip outlet suggested that there may have been a split between the two, as Moana was no longer featured in Maria’s social media updates.

A fan inquired on Instagram page Influencer Updates whether they had split, and the account responded: ‘It seems like they have.’

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I had assumed that Moana might have been absent from Maria’s social media platforms due to her participation in “I’m A Celebrity…” It seemed like an ideal opportunity for her to immerse herself in the exciting experience.

‘But it looks like Moana is posting at home this weekend,’ they added. 

In November, Moana was previously featured on Maria’s Instagram post, whereas Moana had shared an Instagram post with Maria in September.

In June, Maria spoke highly of her beloved partner, offering a seldom-shared glimpse into their romantic bond.

Last year towards the end, the former Miss Universe Australia began a romantic relationship with Moana, and there were hints suggesting that they might soon be engaged.

Typically, they prefer to maintain their romantic life private, however, Maria disclosed a few uncommon remarks about her partner during the Jess Rowe Big Talk Show podcast.

She shared with host Jessica Rowe that her relationship with Moana differs from past romantic encounters, and she referred to Moana as “the one I love most deeply.

For a few months, the pair had been in a relationship, living together, and back in November, Moana subtly suggested that she was planning to propose to Maria shortly.

Sharing a sequence of dressed-up photos on Instagram from their evening at the Marie Claire Women of the Year Awards, the duo appeared deeply in love.

In one photo, Moana even appeared to be about to get down on bended knee and pop the question.
