Miranda Hart reveals she is ready to return to TV as she admits ‘I’ve missed laughter’ and teases ‘silly’ new project

As a lifestyle expert, I am beyond thrilled to hear about Miranda Hart‘s return to her comedy career and her newfound joy in life. Her resilience and determination in the face of chronic illness is truly inspiring. It’s been nine years since she wrapped her beloved sitcom, and four years since we last saw her on screens – but it seems that absence has only made the heart grow fonder!

I can hardly believe it’s been a staggering four years since my beloved idol graced our screens with her presence, and an astounding nine years since she wrapped up the iconic, self-named sitcom that stole our hearts!

However, following her recent wedding announcement on Tuesday, comedian Miranda Hart playfully hinted at a comeback to her humor-filled profession. She confessed that she’s been yearning for more laughter and absurdity in her life.

On The One Show on Tuesday, Miranda opened up about her new book titled “I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You,” sharing that she’s been confined at home due to long-term illness, which has temporarily halted her remarkable career progression.

After achieving contentment from penning her book, the star is now prepared to re-emerge on television.

‘I’m really keen to get back to some silliness now,’ she declared.

I long for the studio, its echoes with joy, creativity hasn’t struck me just yet, it’s still brewing. Yet, I yearn for those playful moments.

Recently, Miranda hasn’t been very visible in public. She gained popularity with her own sitcom back in 2009 and continued to shine in the television series “Call The Midwife,” where she played the character Chummy from 2012 until 2015.

2017 unveiled the heartbreaking news for me, as a devoted admirer, that Miranda wouldn’t rejoin the cast of Call The Midwife anymore, with her packed professional commitments being the explanation behind this decision.

However, it was later disclosed during a comedy performance in London that her health had not been in the best of conditions.

In the 2020 movie adaption of Jane Austen’s work, she portrayed the character Miss Bates, known for her endless conversation with little substance.

In 2020, a special 10-year anniversary show for Miranda, titled “a party” instead of a new episode, was broadcasted. It was filmed at the London Palladium in 2019.

Miranda shared with The One Show that her recent years have been challenging due to being largely confined at home by her persistent illness. In essence, she has spent most of this time either in bed or restricted to the house. This period, spanning almost a decade, forms the basis of her book’s narrative.

It’s such a joy to return to the TV studio! I’m overjoyed to be back, given that my prolonged struggle with a fatigue-based chronic illness kept me confined to bed for so long. The time away from life has made me yearn for it immensely, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be here now.

A significant aspect of the book’s narrative revolves around finding potential solutions. I had to delve into the vast body of knowledge about overall health and wellness that’s available.

Initially, I was at home, lying in bed, all by myself, puzzling doctors about my condition. Since I couldn’t embark on a yoga retreat due to my circumstances, I started pondering over life’s universal truths. After conducting extensive research for several years, I found ten essential principles that I refer to as my ‘treasures’, which can guide one towards living a fulfilling life. These insights are compiled in the book I authored.

‘I’m living a life of joy and meaning and fulfilment which I never had before.’ 

The humorist made an appearance on the BBC program to publicize her freshly released book titled “I Haven’t Always Told You the Truth,” where she discusses her time confined at home and also introduces her enigmatic spouse, a new addition to her life.

The book traces out an unforeseen decade in my life, filled with both astonishing and delightful surprises as well as some truly tough, equally unanticipated hurdles.

Addressing Alex Jones and Alex Scott, I, Miranda, excitedly exclaimed “It’s official now!” as I shared the joyous news that at the ripe age of 49, I found my life partner, my one and only – ‘my person’.

She happily announced, “I got married at the age of 51, and let me tell you, it’s been an absolutely wonderful experience! I wrote to Gary for the role of Miranda, but it wasn’t until I was 49 that I found my own soulmate.” However, she made clear that she would preserve her husband’s privacy.

‘There’s a subtle theme running through the book, I won’t give away our meeting story as it adds an unexpected element. By the way, he’s not just any friend but my dearest one, we shared incredible moments together and now, at 51, I’m overjoyed to be marrying him.’

She emphasized that she wished her book readers would find hope through her love story. In other words, ‘Despite the challenges of meeting someone during a pandemic, while battling chronic illness and being confined to bed or home, I longed deeply for companionship, no longer wanting to face life alone.’

‘The fact that I could meet somebody, it’s not some some of romcom story but it’s hope. Whatever situation you are in, there is always hope, things really do change.’
