Miracle Survivor Sophie’s Dream Wedding: Heartwarming Moments Captured!

Photos taken backstage at Sophie Delezio’s recent wedding reveal the former Aussie heroine, once famed for her bravery, enjoying herself with a playful spirit and affectionately holding her newlywed spouse.

24-year-old Delezio tied the knot with her longtime sweetheart, Joseph Salerno, in a playful, rustic wedding ceremony held at the prestigious Anambah House in Hunter Valley on a Saturday.

Sophie donned an elaborate, ornate gown with intricate patterns on the torso, adorned with a lengthy lace veil and a trailing train supported by her radiant bridesmaids.

Four of her closest friends, all dressed in beige dresses, joyously danced and lifted their feet following the exchange of wedding vows. They then popped open champagne to toast on a lush green lawn surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and tall hedges.

For the event, Joseph donned a rich, cocoa-hued ensemble, while his best man and attendants sported coordinating beige suits, each completing their looks with classic RM Williams footwear.

After the wedding on Saturday, Sophie, Joseph, and their entourage exuberantly opened champagne bottles and shouted in celebration.

The event took place within a renovated barn, offering scenic views of centuries-old oaks and sprawling, immaculate lawns and gardens.

Bridesmaids could be seen holding Sophie’s veil back as the couple said their vows.

On my most cherished occasion, I was graced with the exquisite diamond heart and pearl drop earrings, a priceless gift from the legendary Italian actress, Sophia Loren, back in 2007. These timeless accessories truly made my day even more memorable.

Approximately 160 friends and relatives made their way to the venue by bus on a Saturday afternoon, all gathered to witness a long-term couple formally pledging their lives together.

Amidst the group of attendees were the physicians who conducted over 100 surgeries to rescue Sophie following the two severe accidents she experienced during her childhood.

In 2003, when Sophie was just two years old, a car smashed into the window of her daycare center, pinning her beneath it. The people of Australia came together to support her during this difficult time.

In the aftermath of the incident, approximately 85% of her body sustained severe burns. The event also claimed both her feet, several fingers, and her right ear.

As a compassionate observer, I cannot erase from my memory the poignant sight of the innocent toddler, whose limbs and ears were tragically affected in that devastating incident. That child, with eyes full of innocence, lost not only feet but also several fingers and an ear.

Three years passed, then misfortune reoccurred; a five-year-old girl was accidentally hit by a vehicle close to her residence on Sydney’s northern coastline, during an outing with her caretaker.

Her forceful collision propelled her an astonishing 18 meters away from her wheelchair, resulting in multiple injuries such as a fractured jaw, collarbone, ribs (nine of them), collapsed lungs, two damaged vertebrae, and a traumatic brain injury.

During that difficult situation, Sophie experienced a heart attack, and the medical team at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick inquired from her family on two separate occasions whether they wanted to discontinue her life-sustaining treatments.

However, the tenacious young girl astonishingly recuperated once more, and just a month after that, she was discharged from the hospital and returned to her school studies.

She’s celebrated many milestones in the years following the freak accidents.

In September, the joyful duo added a new member to their family, a baby boy named Frankie. Sophie shared with Woman’s Day magazine that this year has been “the most wonderful year” of her life.

In the ninth year of their academic journey, a pair crossed paths at Oxford Falls Grammar, a combined educational institution with Christian values. They found themselves engaged in the year 2023, as Joseph proposed to her on Valentine’s Day, creating an enchanting ambiance with rose petals and candles surrounding them.

After getting engaged, Sophie disclosed that she had undergone an operation prior to walking up the aisle on her big day. Subsequently, she shared her healing progress with her followers on Instagram.

She shared that a significant unexpected challenge came her way, requiring surgery, so she can participate in the wedding next year.

Earlier, she expressed her plan to Women’s Day magazine, stating that she would don the custom-made prosthetic legs to dance in 10cm heels at her Year 10 formal with Joseph, since she had always wanted to do so.

She remarks, “It feels like coming full circle to wear these same legs for our wedding.” She also mentions that they’ll each compose their own vows and select the 1963 Ronettes hit, ‘Be My Baby,’ for their first dance as a married couple.

For their wedding celebration, the couple splurged on accommodations, renting an Airbnb costing $4,000 per night that can host up to 21 guests. This luxurious place features a cinema room, game zone, and a massive outdoor swimming pool.

On the day of their wedding, both the bride and groom’s entourage prepared themselves in the grand vacation home, which also served as the location for their pre-wedding photoshoot in the garden earlier.

In a vintage 1964 Pontiac Bonneville, sporting a timeless blue interior, Sophie, accompanied by her parents Ron and Carlyn, navigated a 20-minute journey to the nearby wedding venue, which was a short trip away from their luxurious lodgings.
