Meryl Streep’s nephew shares that during the Los Angeles County fires, Meryl herself actively organized the process of leaving their home.
On the same significant day, Mariano shared the news of a newborn’s arrival. Incidentally, this was also when firefighters achieved full containment for both the Palisades and Eaton fires. These blazes, one of which ravaged Altadena and certain parts of Pasadena, were initially fanned by hurricane-force winds. Regrettably, the Palisades fire claimed the lives of 12 individuals. It also left a charred trail across approximately 23,448 acres in Pacific Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu, obliterating around 6,800 structures, as reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Accuweather forecasts that the financial damage caused by these two colossal fires, along with others that flared up during their burning period, surpasses a staggering $250 billion.
On January 7, the newly-minted mother explained that both her home and her family’s residence were forced to be vacated, leaving them without a place to live or any of their belongings. Additionally, they lost a house that was still being built.

She views this as a blessing because it allowed her to essentially have a trial run for what was soon to happen. Shortly after the fires began, Ventimiglia, who plays a character on “This Is Us” that perishes from smoke inhalation following a house fire, shared that he saw their own home burning down on their security cameras.
Ventimiglia expressed that he found it striking how life was mirroring art during his conversation with CBS News. He went on to say that they had supportive friends and colleagues who would help them manage. For him, family – wife, baby, and dog – were the most crucial aspect of everything.
