After the destructive Los Angeles wildfires, Milo Ventimiglia found himself emotionally overwhelmed when his Malibu residence was engulfed in flames.

47-year-old actor from This Is Us took a trip to the location of the home they were eagerly readying for their newborn with wife Jarah Mariano, 41, where they once anticipated starting their family.

On Thursday, he went back to the area to check out the aftermath of the natural disaster.

Additionally, he shared his experience with CBS News, detailing how him and his spouse witnessed their house being reduced to ashes in shocking CCTV footage.

Fortunately, he and his wife as well as their dog safely evacuated on Tuesday before it happened.

In a noticeably emotional moment, Ventimiglia spoke candidly about their sadness – encompassing not just the crib, but also all the preparations they had made for the birth of their first child as a couple.

Speaking of the heartbreaking event, he expressed how challenging it was for them to come to terms with witnessing their house go up in flames.

At one point, I believe there comes a moment when you realize that what you’re seeing is genuine and unfolding. Later on, though, you just can’t help but detach yourself. Why continue watching if it doesn’t serve any purpose?

Eventually, while watching the live footage, he said: ‘We kind of accepted the loss.’

After the fire in the area was put out, he returned to the area two days later.

He knew his house was gone but to stand there in person he said it felt ‘heavy.’

The Gilmore Girls alum described how they began reminiscing about various memories associated with different areas of the house, and more besides.

Then, as you look at your neighbors’ homes and the surrounding area, a feeling of sadness overwhelms you,” he added on.

In addition, the actor discussed the dramatic scene where his character Jack Pearson, from the popular NBC show “This Is Us,” experienced a heart-wrenching house fire in his final on-screen moments, as he helplessly witnessed his make-believe home go up in flames.

I’d give my last breath to recount how, in a selfless act of heroism that will forever echo in my heart, my beloved character sacrificed himself to rescue his family from a devastating house fire. The tragic irony lies in the fact that he lost his own life due to a cardiac arrest brought on by the very smoke he bravely fought to protect them from.

‘It’s not lost on me,’ he said about the comparison. ‘Life imitating art.’

Despite portraying a different personality on-screen, it’s worth noting that he’s very much alive and well, expressing gratitude for still having all that truly matters to him.

He stated that we have both loyal friends and trustworthy colleagues. We will find a way to manage. Our family – wife, baby, and pet – is what truly matters the most.

Mandy Moore, who used to act as his TV wife, was among those who had to leave due to the destructive wildfires.

Celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Leighton Meester, and Adam Brody, along with numerous others, sadly had to evacuate their residences due to the fire.

Multiple fires erupted in locations such as Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Eaton Canyon, the Hollywood Hills, and various spots across Los Angeles County during a severe and hazardous windstorm which intensified on Tuesday.

By this Thursday, a minimum of six lives have been lost due to the wildfires raging across Southern California. These fires have compelled approximately 180,000 residents to flee their homes, and over 1.5 million people are currently experiencing power outages as a result.
