Milly Alcock’s Supergirl movie has started filming in the UK

Filming for the latest Supergirl movie set within the DC Universe, featuring actress Milly Alcock from “House of the Dragon”, has commenced in the United Kingdom.

Titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow“, this upcoming movie marks one of the initial productions in the fresh superhero narrative overseen by James Gunn, coming after the summer’s Superman film.

The filming process is underway at Warner Bros Studio Leavesden, as Craig Gillespie, who has previously directed movies like “Cruella” and “I, Tonya”, takes charge of the production.

According to Gunn’s statement, the film “Woman of Tomorrow” will highlight the unique qualities that distinguish our main character from Superman, as depicted in the comic book with the same name.

In his explanation, he stated that Superman was an individual who arrived on Earth and was brought up by caring guardians. Conversely, the character we’re discussing here, Supergirl, was nurtured on a fragment of her home planet, Krypton.

After witnessing everyone nearby meet a tragic end, she has become significantly disillusioned or hardened, making her character seem less hopeful or idealistic.

Towards the end of last month, it became public knowledge that Jason Momoa will take on the role of the anti-hero bounty hunter Lobo within an upcoming movie. Previously, he portrayed Aquaman in the concluded DCEU (DC Extended Universe).

He made his role official by posting a snippet from an earlier interview on Instagram. The post contained this quote: “Well, Lobo was… I used to collect comics, and I don’t do that much anymore, but he’s always been my favorite character, and I’ve always wanted to play him because it seems like the ideal role for me,” the quote said.

In essence, if someone asks me to perform for them, absolutely! However, as of now, I haven’t received that invitation. To avoid speculation, it’s best not to spread rumors. But should they ever reach out and ask me to play or audition, you can count on me being present.

He used his caption to confirm he has now been cast, writing: “They called.”

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is set for release on June 26, 2026.
