Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky starred in a funny Super Bowl ad that was seen by more than 120 million people in the US.
The advertisement showed an Australian couple reacting in contrasting ways while trying out Amazon’s new Alexa AI assistant.
Elsa, 49, seemed completely comfortable with the high-tech helper, but Chris, 42, was initially doubtful. His skepticism soon spiraled into amusing paranoia.
In the ad, the Thor star imagines the ways his AI assistant could orchestrate his premature demise.
Chris, clearly upset, points out the sudden shift in behavior – one moment friendly, the next actively trying to harm them – while Elsa watches with a composed demeanor.
Alexa cheerily responds: ‘Now, Chris, how would I do that?’
Get ready for some wild and funny situations! Chris finds himself in trouble thanks to his smart home devices: he’s pinned by his garage door, trapped under a pool cover, and even chased by a bear after being told to go outside – all because of his AI assistant.
‘[Just like that], you’re a widow,’ Chris warns, while Elsa deadpans: ‘Right.’
The Super Bowl commercial shows Elsa as the sensible one, reassuring her husband and calming his overblown worries.
‘You’re crazy,’ she says, before heading off to a meeting Alexa had booked for her.
This new advertisement features the same couple we’ve seen in previous campaigns, like the tourism ad for Visit Abu Dhabi. However, this time the ad shows Chris, even as a superhero, feeling anxious when artificial intelligence takes over.
Oh my gosh, you guys, Chris just shared the most amazing peek into his life in Australia with Elsa and the kids! I seriously melted when I saw it. It’s like, a little window into their perfect family life, and I’m living for it! Three beautiful children running around… it’s everything!
Married in 2010, the couple have three children: a 13-year-old daughter named India Rose, and 11-year-old twin sons, Sasha and Tristan.
Oh my gosh, they moved all the way from the US in 2015! Can you believe it? Now they’re living in Byron Bay, which is basically paradise – a super chill surf town just south of the Gold Coast in Australia. I’m so jealous!
Speaking in a new interview, Chris and Elsa opened up about their relaxed lifestyle Down Under.
Chris shared with PEOPLE that they now have a large property – a farm with horses – where their children spend their days surfing, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Elsa explained that adopting this lifestyle has been a great help for her family, particularly when managing the household with three children.
Chris shared that this change has allowed him to prioritize spending time with his family. He explained, ‘Now I can focus on what really matters – being with my kids and wife, and just having fun together.’
This follows the actor’s recent discussion of his documentary about his father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s, which he described as a heartfelt tribute and a very personal experience.
Last year, the actor released a documentary called A Road Trip To Remember. It showed him and his 70-year-old father, Craig, traveling across Australia to revisit places from his childhood. The trip happened after Craig was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
This new information builds on his 2022 documentary series, Limitless. In that series, the actor discovered he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene, inheriting one from each parent. This genetic makeup significantly increases his risk of developing the disease – making him eight to ten times more likely.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Chris shared that he was hesitant to make his deeply personal documentary, admitting it was difficult to share such vulnerable feelings with the public.
