Millie Mackintosh Reveals Shocking Truth About Her Toxic Marriage

Millie Mackintosh openly discussed her difficult marriage with Professor Green, revealing that the divorce significantly worsened her alcohol issues.

The star from Made In Chelsea, aged 35, seldom discusses her two-year marriage to a musician that concluded in a divorce back in 2016.

As a lifestyle guru, I can share my personal journey. After tying the knot with my MIC co-star, Hugo Taylor, we embarked on parenthood together, blessed with two lovely daughters. However, it wasn’t until recently that I, Millie, have come to acknowledge the toxicity that was inherent in my initial marriage.

On the Brogan Garrit-Smith podcast, Getting There, Millie opened up about a challenging period in her life when she went through a divorce.

As a lifestyle guide, reflecting on my past relationship, I recall that we each faced our individual battles, and perhaps there was an unspoken belief that we could help each other overcome these challenges. However, despite our best efforts, it became clear that we were not the solution to one another’s struggles.

In the end, we each faced our own challenges, which only seemed to intensify the situation. Unfortunately, it became rather harmful and unhealthy for us.

Millie mentioned that even prior to her grand wedding in 2013 at Babington House, Somerset, she had realized that the relationship wasn’t suitable, but fear of disappointing others held her back from ending it due to the embarrassment associated with backing out.

During that timeframe, her consumption of alcohol and self-medication grew more pronounced. She expressed that due to the publicity surrounding her breakup, she felt compelled to indulge secretively.

After going through a divorce, I found myself in Hugo’s company. I was in a state of immense worry, barely managing to eat, and resorting to Xanax for relief. Truthfully, I wasn’t in good shape mentally. Whenever those difficult emotions surfaced, I would just swallow another pill. It was a challenging period in my life.

Millie joyfully shared that things have turned out positively between her and her former partner. They’ve both found happiness, established new families, and even exchanged photos of their children. There seems to be no lingering animosity between them.

2016’s springtime found me bursting with excitement, for it was then that the news of Millie and Green’s divorce broke! Coincidentally, this life-changing event unfolded in the very same week when I proudly announced my reunion with Hugo, my cherished Made In Chelsea comrade. Ah, the thrill of love and the drama of showbiz!

In the year that followed their engagement on the Greek island of Mykonos, they exchanged wedding vows in Sussex during the month of June 2018. Their first child, Sienna, arrived in 2020, and a year later, they welcomed their second daughter, Aurelia.

This month, Millie was a guest on the Life Of Bryony podcast from The Mail, during which she talked about giving up alcohol over two years ago, as she had become increasingly irritable when drinking.

She mentioned a memory from a night when a group of about eight people, including you, gathered at someone’s house. It was almost like an episode from the TV show ‘Desperate Housewives of Chiswick,’ where I found myself getting into a heated argument or altercation with a woman I had only just met.

After that, I was struggling to find my keys for the door keyhole, which woke Hugo (Taylor) and the baby. I ended up looking disheveled and frazzled.

Millie additionally explained how alcohol negatively impacted her relationship with her husband, Hugo, leading to a cycle of decline.

The woman with two children, who got married to Hugo in 2018, expressed: ‘I had begun to feel quite agitated and harsh towards others.’

Instead of getting extremely angry with a stranger during a night out, my anger would build up throughout the evening and be directed at him as the night came to an end.

In 2011, when I became well-known from my time on Made In Chelsea, I too found myself perpetually anxious about the possibility of getting caught under the influence on camera.

In my heart, the dread of being unmasked never ceased. I lived in a state of anxiety, always worrying that someone might snap a photo or film me at my most vulnerable moments.

I lived with persistent anxiety, worrying that photographs of me under the influence might surface, and constantly anticipating a phone call from my agent saying something along the lines of “Millie, what on earth is going on here?

On several occasions when using camera phones, I’ve found myself in situations where photos or videos might have been taken of me while I was drinking in public. This makes me anxious the following morning, worrying that someone may have shared such evidence online.

She stated: “To me, abstaining from alcohol while juggling all these activities, events, and parties seems unattainable, yet it’s terrifying. But beyond that fear lies a stunning life, so don’t postpone embracing it.

‘It’s the ultimate self-love choice to put yourself first.’

Millie chose to consult with a sobriety advisor, who assisted her and has remained alcohol-free for over two years now.

Millie took to Instagram in August to celebrate two years sober.

She said: ‘Today marks a big milestone for me – two years since I discovered alcohol-free life.

Expressing exactly how profoundly this voyage has impacted my existence is challenging, yet I yearn to divulge my story and ponder the remarkable transformations it has brought about.
