Millie Mackintosh Opens Up About Her ADHD, Dyspraxia, Memory Loss and Sexuality Struggles
On Tuesday, Millie Mackintosh openly discussed her challenges with ADHD and Dyspraxia by sharing personal insights via Instagram.
Previously a cast member on Made In Chelsea, now 35 years old, publicly shared her health struggles in 2024. She disclosed that she experiences issues with memory retention, coordination between her eyes and hands, and battles depression.
During their vacation in sunny Turkey, Millie, a mother of two young girls, Sienna (age 3) and Aurelia (2), shared with others some aspects of herself that don’t align with her physical appearance, alongside her husband Hugo Taylor (age 38), a former co-star.
Dyspraxia, or Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), is a frequently encountered condition that impacts an individual’s ability to coordinate movements effectively.

In her own words: ‘I’m Dyspraxic, which means I face challenges with hand-eye coordination, memory, and sometimes bump into things.’
‘I used to play the drums and have an electric blue drum kit aged 11’.
As a teenager, I experienced bullying which led to my diagnosis with depression at age 16. Since my childhood, I’ve had an inherent fear of confined spaces and darkness.
She went on to say, “I received an ADHD diagnosis later in life, and I’m still discovering more about it. Getting this diagnosis has been extremely beneficial for my mental well-being.
Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been adhering to a keto diet as part of an effort to enhance my attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms and overall brain wellness.
As a teenager, I disliked exercise due to feeling clumsy and uncoordinated. However, in my twenties, I found strength training which I’ve grown to adore since then.
For about three years now, I’ve chosen not to drink alcohol, a choice that has proven to be one of the most life-changing decisions I’ve ever made.
Previously, Millie chose to resume using medication to combat her anxiety because it kept her in a state of persistent worry and triggered panic attacks approximately every few days.

In 2018, the celebrity publicly shared her battles with anxiety, which reached their peak during her pregnancy with her firstborn.
* Millie shared that she’d been taking medication for the past six months, and her husband, Hugo, noted that it seems like she’s returned to her usual self again.
In 2022, after battling anxiety and depression for a considerable amount of time, Millie decided to start taking medication for the first time. Six months later, she chose to discontinue the treatment.
Previously, Millie confided that during her fight against alcoholism, she had been privately grappling with issues related to her sexual orientation.
Previously open about her alcohol issues, the TV figure underwent sobriety in 2022, and subsequently published a memoir detailing her challenges, called “Bad Drunk.
On a recent episode of my dear friend Caggie Dunlop’s Saturn Returns Podcast, I shared a personal journey from my teenage years. During that time, I found it challenging to openly acknowledge my feelings towards women. It took the influence of alcohol for me to muster the courage to show affection, such as a kiss.
She eventually acknowledged that she struggled with intimate relationships with other women following bullying at a female-only school, often causing distress to her male partners by openly kissing women while under the influence of alcohol.
Millie shared: “When I was a teenager and had alcohol, I often kissed women. However, I didn’t feel comfortable doing that when I was sober.

At school, I had secret feelings for several girls, but I lacked the understanding to express it as “I like girls too.” Instead, I would develop crushes and feel awkward around them. During sleepovers, I often found myself wondering if they might kiss me.
Millie mentioned that she has delved deeply into many challenges during her therapy sessions, sharing with Caggie: “I’ve examined my connection with other women extensively. Since I was bullied, I do struggle with intimacy among women, but there’s also an appeal present.
It’s clear that I’m married to a man, and this aspect of my life doesn’t impact our relationship in the present, but reflecting on the past, I recognize that my marriage was one of the factors leading me to drink excessively, as there were parts of myself I didn’t fully comprehend, and I struggled to find an appropriate way to express these feelings. I felt apprehensive about expressing them, too.
‘Everytime I would drink I would just keep doing it, even if I was in a relationship.’
As she divulged her sexuality to her husband Hugo Taylor, it turned out that his response was exceptionally supportive.
