Millie Bobby Brown is over critics ‘dissecting my face, my body.’ She calls them out by name
Millie Bobby Brown, the star of “Stranger Things”, acknowledges that some individuals hold firm views regarding her appearance. However, she firmly states, “I refuse to be embarrassed about my looks, my choices in clothing, or my personal presentation.
21-year-old actress shared on Instagram on Monday that she perceived herself as a focus for malicious comments and gossip magazine pieces, penned by individuals who appear to relish in belittling young women. In her video post and accompanying message, Brown expressed her defiance towards her critics, specifically naming several journalists involved.
As a long-time enthusiast of this field, it’s crucial for me to voice my thoughts here. You see, I entered this world at just ten years old. Over the years, I’ve grown and evolved right before everyone’s eyes. Yet, it feels as if people expect me to remain untouched by time, to continue looking exactly as I did in the first season of ‘Stranger Things’.

Television
Millie Bobby Brown has been facing the issue of being sexualized since she started acting in ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix, as she put it.
In her video, Brown criticized several Daily Mail reporters and read out some snarky headlines, such as “Why are young celebrities like Millie Bobby Brown showing signs of premature aging?” Additionally, British comedian Matt Lucas was involved in a controversy after making a comparison between one of Brown’s recent public appearances and his character Vicky Pollard, which some found unflattering. Later on, Lucas issued an apology for his remarks.
In various articles about Brown, the Daily Mail often includes critical social media remarks concerning Brown’s looks and opinions from aesthetic experts suggesting plastic surgery. This did not sit well with the actress who stars in “Enola Holmes”.
She stated on Monday, “This isn’t about journalism; it’s about harassment.” She expressed concern over the fact that grown writers are scrutinizing her appearance, personal decisions, and it’s unsettling.
Speaking about it, Brown expressed a deeper concern when she discovered that some of the harsh journalists covering her were women. She lamented, “It’s disheartening that tearing down young women appears to be simpler for more attention or clicks.

In a TikTok post, Ariana Grande advises viewers to show more kindness and avoid making comments about others’ physical appearances, following some concerns raised about her own body image.
She commented: “Those who are disenchanted find it difficult to accept a girl maturing according to her own choices, rather than their expectations.
Prior to the recent surge of articles, Brown had already expressed her experiences in the public spotlight. In 2022, she disclosed feelings of being sexualized at an early age and the criticism she received for wearing a revealing dress to an awards ceremony. She stated that she was “condemned as if I were 60 years old” when she wore it.
In recent times, I’ve noticed that fellow ex-child stars like Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande have bravely confronted and dismissed criticism about their appearances. Following suit, I declared to my followers yesterday, “I proudly stand against any need to apologize for maturing.
In my latest video, I challenged both fans and critics alike to pause and consider their words before they speak harshly. Instead, let’s strive for a kinder approach in our conversations.
Brown urged, “Let’s strive for improvement, not just for my sake, but for every young girl who deserves to live freely and fearlessly, without the threat of being marginalized due to her existence.
In 2016, Brown gained widespread recognition for her breakout role as Eleven, a character with telekinetic abilities, in the Netflix series “Stranger Things.” Co-created by Matt and Ross Duffer, the show is planning to conclude later in the year with its fifth and last season.
