Miley Cyrus discusses some unusual dating tips she got from her mother, Tish Cyrus.

In an open conversation with The Cut on Tuesday, the 32-year-old musician had a chat with Tish (age 58), along with her sisters Brandi (age 38) and Noah (age 25). They delved into topics such as love, family values, and insights they’ve applied in their personal relationships.

According to Miley, her mother had a surprising rule of thumb when it came to choosing partners. 

It appears that she admitted her mother often encouraged her to be with men who were physically attractive, perhaps hinting at her previous relationship with Liam Hemsworth. They had been married briefly before divorcing in 2019, following a decade of an on-again, off-again romance.

Tish didn’t deny it, instead she defended her philosophy with humor. 

She commented, laughing, “That advice was fantastic because after all these years, I feel like I’ve grown weary of it.” When Miley pressed her for further explanation, she added, “At least now you have the opportunity to gaze upon someone who is incredibly attractive!

However, although the matriarch, who later wed Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell post-divorce with Billy Ray Cyrus in 2022, might have been making a jest, Miley seized the opportunity to underscore the evolution of her personal values and priorities.

Miley shared about her current partner, Maxx Morando, stating, “I found someone special who cares for me deeply, treats me kindly, and values me greatly.” She elaborated on this, saying, “I unfortunately learned this lesson the hard way as my mother taught me differently. However, I eventually figured out what a healthy relationship should look like on my own.

She pointed out that Tish’s criteria for the perfect partner didn’t encompass traits such as sincerity, reliability, regard, or clear expression of thoughts.

‘Mom was like, ‘They need to be tall,’ Miley teased.

Noah, who’s betrothed to the fashion designer Pinkus yet was once a topic due to her intricate role in a romantic entanglement with both Purcell and her mother, added her thoughts. She shared that she and Miley had experienced comparable challenges in their relationships.

Brandi asserted that her mother’s advice was effective for her, boasting about her partner Matt Southcombe being “incredibly handsome.

Miley swiftly responded by saying Morando shares the same qualities, but she especially emphasized his kindness and consideration towards her, traits she now considers essential and not up for negotiation.

Miley immediately countered by agreeing that Morando exhibits similar qualities, yet she highlighted his gentle and respectful treatment, qualities she now deems as indispensable.

In the end, the lively exchange between Brandi and Miley resulted in them both recognizing that their mother has changed, or adapted, in her methods of expressing love.

Miley playfully remarked that Tish is with someone who is both attractive and respectful towards her, humorously adding that such a partner has been her ultimate aim all along.

In August, Noah addressed the feud rumors surrounding her and various members of her family. 

Noah shared with People that he maintains a strong distance from any personal or dramatic matters within his family. However, they all share a deep connection through their love for music, which holds significant importance in their lives.

Still, she admitted the speculation can be ‘draining.’
