Miley Cyrus isn’t going to take orders from just anybody.
A video obtained by Page Six shows the celebrity responding to a photographer who complained when she put on sunglasses while walking the red carpet.
At the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday, the 33-year-old actress was posing for photos when she reached for her sunglasses, which annoyed the photographers trying to get their shots.
‘No, no, no!’ One photographer in particular could be heard saying amidst a chorus of protests.
Despite their objections, Cyrus put on her sunglasses and firmly told the person who was complaining exactly what she thought.
‘If you yell at me, I do the opposite, you know this!’ she told him.
‘I won’t yell,’ the photographer replied. ‘I’m not yelling.’
She walked up to the photographer and said, ‘We’ve been friends for twenty years. If you try to stop me from wearing these glasses, I will wear them.’
Cyrus also seemed to realize that if someone complimented her glasses – saying, “I love the glasses!” – she would remove them.
At the film festival, she turned heads on the red carpet with a glamorous outfit and a new hairstyle.
The singer showed off new bangs, similar to the style she wore during her time on the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, along with long blonde hair. This look appeared just before the 20th anniversary of the popular series.
Miley Cyrus was accompanied by her mother, Tish Cyrus, age 58, at the film festival. The pair turned heads with their strikingly similar looks, both sporting stylish suits and long, wavy hair.
Cyrus attended the event to accept an award for her song “Dream As One,” which is featured in the new movie Avatar: Fire and Ash. The award recognized her outstanding artistic achievement.
For her song, she also scored a Golden Globe nomination for the best original song.
At the film festival, she wore a flattering polka dot top with a low neckline, combined with a sleek, well-fitting blazer made of a shiny fabric.
She finished her stylish, all-one-color look with classic straight-leg pants and pointed-toe heels.
She finished her outfit with a pair of blue sunglasses, adding a cool touch as she posed for photos on the red carpet.
Her outing comes shortly after she confirmed her engagement to musician Maxx Morando.
She debuted her engagement ring while walking the red carpet with her partner in early December.
After unexpectedly announcing their engagement, the singer is rumored to be planning a secret wedding with her partner, age 27, instead of having another large, traditional wedding following her divorce from Liam Hemsworth.
According to a source who spoke with Us Weekly, Miley is currently very happy and at peace. She’s not particularly interested in having another wedding.
According to a source, the couple is keeping their celebration private and plans to mark the occasion in a way that is personal and significant to them.
