Miley Cyrus’ co-star hits back at claims he smoked pot on Hannah Montana set

Miley Cyrus’ previous co-star countered her assertions that he had used marijuana during the filming of Hannah Montana.

On Thursday’s episode of their podcast, “Sorry We’re Cyrus,” the Grammy-winning artist, age 32, who recently popped up at Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter show in Paris, made accusations against Mitchel Musso.

At some point, the singer disclosed that her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was known to use marijuana on set. She further mentioned that Musso, who is 33 years old, shares the same habit.

In response to allegations, the actor, known for portraying Oliver on the popular show from 2006 to 2011, issued a statement to E! News, denying the claims.

Actually, I recall things differently,” Musso explained. “But there are many tales from those times that could make for an interesting discussion.

If we’re diving back into the history of Hannah Montana, feel free to bring it up, he added, making clear that he held no grudges against the artist.

Mitchel expressed his affection for Miley and her family, even during times when the revisions required such creativity, as he wrapped up his conversation with the media outlet.

Cyrus and Musso collaborated with other celebrities on the Disney channel show, along with their father Billy Ray, Emily Osment, Jason Earles, and Moises Arias.

The series proved popular, running for four seasons on its broadcasting channel, and it even led to the production of concert movies and various spin-offs like “Hannah Montana: The Movie” (2009).

During its broadcast, the program was recognized with several awards, including being nominated for four Primetime Emmys in the category of Outstanding Children’s Program.

Apart from being recognized for his role as Hannah Montana, Mitchell is also well-known for his acting in the cartoon series Phineas and Ferb, as well as Disney XD’s Pair of Kings.

Nevertheless, he was excluded from subsequent events following his 2013 arrest on DUI charges – a period during which it was discovered that he had been driving under the influence while still a minor, having been of legal drinking age at only 20 years old when the offense occurred.

In the year 2023, he was apprehended for being publicly intoxicated and accused of snatching a packet of chips from a Texas motel. However, by the end of the same year, both the significant accusations of public intoxication and theft were dismissed.

Afterward, the three of them burst out laughing when they playfully suggested that Mitchell Musso, Miley’s ex-castmate from Hannah Montana, should accept the blame instead.

In January, Tish shared the reasons for giving up marijuana use, contrary to her earlier identity as a self-declared marijuana enthusiast.

In the January 2nd podcast episode, I shared that my decision to quit smoking came about quite unexpectedly, I suppose you could say it was a happy accident.

During my holiday, I traveled to a place where cannabis use was prohibited. About three days into the trip, I experienced the most severe anxiety I’ve ever felt in my entire life. When I attempted to use cannabis again, it was a definite no.

Upon giving up cold turkey, she discovered that the thing which used to soothe her nerves was now having an unsettling effect on her instead.

Smoking, which used to help with her anxiety, now ‘makes it even worse.’

Despite this, she acknowledged that she might revisit the issue since she’s still grappling with her mental health concerns.

She expressed that the past seven months have been incredibly challenging for her, akin to severe stress. She admitted then that it provided immense aid and recently, she’s not doing well at all.

Brandi, though she doesn’t personally use it, expressed encouragement towards her mother attempting again. “She shone brightest under the influence of cannabis. It brought out the best in her.

The surprising revelation about marijuana usage follows Miley, who shared a decade’s worth of family turmoil and healing, disclosing how she reconciled with everyone.

Through her own efforts, she became a renowned global pop star; however, as she shared during the latest episode of Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, her journey to success was marked by significant family turmoil.

She joked that the entire family had experienced a particularly challenging, bleak period, yet they managed to persevere.

Miley revealed on the podcast that the family was able to mend their fences without therapy.

Miley playfully commented on their disorganized state, implying they never addressed any issues, hinting at the explanation behind not seeking help from a therapist in regards to their family challenges.

‘Just to get each other into a room to get to counseling would have been a war,’ Miley admitted.

She informed Lewinsky that during a particularly difficult period, approximately half of her family members had stopped communicating with each other.

Miley openly expressed a strong sense of devotion towards her mother Tish, who parted ways with her father Billy Ray in the year 2022, marking almost three decades of marriage and joint parenthood of Miley, Braison (aged 31) and Noah (aged 25).

Prior to the formal separation and finalization of their divorce in 2023, Miley shared that her parents had periods of being together and apart, and she discussed the impact this had on her.

‘[I] watched what happens when you don’t clean things up as they’re happening,’ Miley admitted.

She acknowledged, “They truly accumulate over time. Then, quite unexpectedly, you find yourself thinking, ‘Wow, a decade has passed, and I’m faced with such disarray that I hardly know where to begin.’ This feels like emotional clutter.

In essence, during a crucial phase of her year, the singer took care of all the issues, significantly improving the connections and restoring them.

As I waded through the accumulated clutter before me, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Let’s kick things off by enjoying ourselves first, and as we mutually infuse positivity and cheerfulness into our lives, that’ll pave the way for deeper conversations.” That was my honest take on the situation.

Besides saying it, Cyrus expressed that surrendering (or waving a white flag) seemed more feasible than undergoing counseling sessions with another person.
