In a thrilling auction, she acquired an exquisite, silver, bugle-beaded strip dress designed by the legendary Bob Mackie, who’s 84 years young. This iconic fashion item now belongs to our beloved star, and I can hardly wait to see her rock it on stage!
At the 2024 Grammy Awards held in February, Cyrus captivated the audience with her performance of her famous song Flowers, donning a stylish and sleek outfit.
Mackie’s design was showcased in the Julien’s Auctions exhibition titled “Hollywood Legends: Undeniably Mackie,” a collection that spotlights the iconic fashion designer’s most memorable ensembles from their illustrious career.
In a press statement, Miley explained that the purchased item symbolizes something greater than just a performance; it’s an expression of the connection between music, creativity, and elegance.
Experiencing this show was a defining moment for me, and receiving Bob Mackie’s backing to make it happen is incredibly meaningful.
In February, the music artist captivated the Grammy’s stage with a performance of her popular song, a number that had been previously criticized for bearing resemblance to a composition by Bruno Mars.
The song quickly climbed to the top of the charts after its January 2023 release.
The songstress eventually received a Grammy for that song, and it was awarded in the Record of the Year category.
The dress belongs to Mackie’s Fall-Winter 2002 “Broadway With Love” collection, which Cyrus wore as styled by Bradley Kenneth.
After a nearly year-long gap, Bradley commended Mackie in a post on Instagram following his impressive performance.
In his caption, he expressed gratitude by saying, “Thanks a lot, @bobmackie, for consistently granting us access to your archives. You’re not just an icon, but also a genius!
During an interview with Harper’s BAZAAR in November, Miley mentioned that she had a meeting with Bob in Palm Springs to discuss her upcoming performance preparations.
She mentioned that Bob doesn’t inform her about what she’ll wear for the meeting, instead, it’s the other way around. Moreover, Bob not only suggests where she’ll be wearing it but also provides details on how they plan to capture the moment when she does.
She said, ‘He designed the dress considering it from every perspective, so he can suggest which angle would best capture the dress when photographed.’
A portion of the earnings from selling the dress will be donated to MusicCares, a charitable organization helping struggling artists.
