Verdict on Mikey
Recap
This film tells the story of a boy who commits a terrible crime – killing his family – but isn’t caught. He’s then taken in by a new family hoping to offer him a fresh start. Unfortunately, his violent tendencies resurface, and he begins to repeat his dangerous behavior.
Best Parts
The film explores the unsettling idea that a seemingly harmless child can be capable of great harm. It’s chilling because we understand the extent of Mikey’s actions and his lack of remorse. Brian Bonsall delivers a remarkably unsettling performance as the disturbed young boy.
Worst Parts
It seems like authorities should have looked into things more thoroughly after the initial crime, rather than immediately dismissing his involvement. They also could have better prepared and supported his parents, considering everything he’d experienced.
Final Thoughts –Mikey is a chilling, disturbing movie.
