As I delve into the heart-wrenching tale of Shaun Weiss, the once cherished child star from The Mighty Ducks, it’s hard not to feel a pang of sympathy for the man who seemed to have it all yet lost it all. His life, much like a Hollywood fairy tale, took a dramatic turn as his addiction to drugs consumed him, leaving behind a shadow of his former self.

Actor Shaun Weiss, known from The Mighty Ducks, laced up his skates again after almost 30 years, as shown in a post he shared on Instagram on Sunday.

45-year-old actor mentioned that it had been since the last day of filming D3 (The Mighty Ducks from 1996) when he last went skating.

Weiss, who played the role of Greg Goldberg in the hockey-themed Disney films, continued: ‘It’s like riding a bike. With bones that have aged 30 years.’

A native of Montvale, New Jersey shared that he wore the hockey gear as part of a partnership with the company FunkAway, which specializes in eliminating unpleasant odors.

Previously troubled with substance abuse and legal issues, the actor was spotted donning a goalie mask and a black jersey adorned with yellow edges, bearing the word “Ducks” on its front.

On Tuesday, Weiss, known for appearing on television series like The King of Queens, Las Vegas, and Freaks and Geeks, was spotted promoting Goldberg replica hockey sticks through his website, as shown in a video clip.

In a more conversational style, Weiss, known for movies like Huggin Molly and Drillbit Taylor, titled the promotional video, “This mini gear takes me back to the first day of training camp.

‘Mark the 30th anniversary of D2 with this exclusive commemorative item – a replica of my original hockey stick! To make it even more authentic, add cloth tape to the blade and knob. With this stick in your hands, you’ll feel like Goldberg the goalie!’

On February 21, Weiss stated that he hadn’t interrupted his four-year run without alcohol.

‘I’m OK, you don’t have to worry about me but thank you – it’s very sweet,’ he said.

Weiss pointed out a reddish mark on his forehead, explaining that it was holy ash consecrated by the renowned yogi, Sadhguru.

In the clip, Weiss removed the substance from his head and addressed his followers by saying, “All right, is that more satisfactory for you now?

In a prior video, Weiss expressed his appreciation for having the opportunity to be part of the entertainment business.

He expressed, “I’m fortunate enough to travel to Florida, interact with fans, and enjoy a fantastic weekend, all while being compensated for it.” He continued, “What a wonderful lifestyle! Many thanks; this is beyond belief, can’t wait to meet you all at the events!

Additionally, Weiss shared his thoughts on fan worries with TMZ, stating that he is committed to maintaining sobriety as he moves forward.

‘If I ever need help I promise I will reach out to people,’ he said. ‘No going backward.’

Weiss explained to the publication that the ashes were connected to a spiritual routine he follows, which has significantly improved his overall equilibrium and happiness.

In my own life’s odyssey towards sobriety, I’ve been open about my struggles with substance abuse, particularly with powerful drugs like heroin and methamphetamine. At one point, these battles led me to face the harsh reality of homelessness.

In a September 2022 interview on the YouTube channel Addiction Talk, Weiss said it had been ‘hard to see’ images of himself when he was in the throes of addiction looking ‘horrible and deathly.’

During the interview, Weiss admitted that his experience as a child star had turned him into an “adrenaline seeker,” laying the groundwork for the substance abuse challenges he’d encounter later on.

Weiss shared that his childhood was far more thrilling than most 13-year-olds, with adventures like traveling, flying, and acting. He confessed to having a strong craving for excitement. When the thrill subsided, he struggled to find it again. Eventually, he discovered that sensation in drugs.

Weiss stated that while he was undergoing treatment at a sober facility due to his addiction, he received a new set of teeth as a gift. He expressed that this issue was extremely critical, stating, “I was in a dire state. I was likely on the verge of death if those sheriff’s deputies hadn’t intervened and rescued me.

On January 26, 2020, Weiss was taken into custody for suspected burglary and methamphetamine abuse in Yuba County, California. Later, a court mandated rehabilitation for him.

Weiss was arrested in connection with public intoxication in August 2018 in Oroville, California.

Prior to this, in the year 2017, he was given a 90-day prison term following his arrest for methamphetamine possession in Burbank, California.
