Actor Neil Dudgeon, who stars in Midsomer Murders, has addressed speculation about his potential departure from the series after a one-year break.
Since 2011, the actor has been portraying DCI John Barnaby in a crime drama series on ITV. The show focuses on this character’s efforts to unravel various crimes and enigmas that occur within the Midsomer county.
After airing its latest episode in November the previous year, the show took a break following the decision by producers to forgo a year of production. However, Dudgeon informed Radio Times that he would continue in his role as long as they desired him to do so.
He expressed his contentment in the countryside, saying it was lovely. He mentioned that he expects a time when he will be replaced, feeling as though he’ll be pulled away from the spotlight. However, since this hasn’t happened yet, he plans on continuing to work until he is no longer needed.
Actor Martin Clunes, who assumed the principal part from John Nettles in the series, announced even better news. He revealed that production for the 25th season, containing four episodes, is set to start next month.
He mentioned that he’s unsure about the exact air date, but production for season 25 resumes at the end of March. So, the show will continue.

The detective series “Midsomer Murders,” initially penned by Anthony Horowitz and Douglas Watkinson from a collection of books, made its debut in 1997. This long-running show has featured notable actors like Olivia Colman, Imelda Staunton, Hugh Bonneville, Henry Cavill, and Holly Willoughby among others.
