Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Launch Issues Prompt an Apology as Asobo Studios Rolls Out a Resolution
As a seasoned flight simulator enthusiast with countless hours spent navigating virtual skies, I must say, I was thrilled about the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. However, it seems the excitement has been met with a turbulent takeoff due to the technical issues plaguing the game.
Yesterday marked the launch of the highly anticipated Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. However, many excited individuals who are eager to explore the skies find themselves tethered to the ground, caught in a long line waiting for access to the game. Microsoft has recognized this problem and extended their apologies to the affected users.
Users have been complaining about prolonged load-up delays that ultimately freeze completely, and those who manage to gain access to the game have found that some aircraft are absent from their garage.
On this exciting launch day, we understand many of you are experiencing frustration. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we’d like to express our sincere regrets. This video message was created with transparency in mind, as we believe in maintaining an open dialogue. Today, we’re encountering some issues, but rest assured, the team is working diligently to resolve them. We’ll continue moving forward.
Sebastian Wloch, CEO and co-founder of Asobo Studio, pointed out that the issues were due to a server cache struggling to handle the high number of players trying to enter the game. In simpler terms, when players first start, they’re essentially requesting data from the server, which then stores this information in a database. However, according to Wloch, the server is currently overwhelmed by the volume of such requests.
The database we’re using is extremely large, and there’s a system in place to temporarily store frequently accessed data, known as a cache. Unfortunately, this cache has become too full right now. We’ve thoroughly tested this cache during the entire tech alpha phase, even simulating usage from 200,000 users, but tonight it’s simply unable to handle the load.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that Asobo has been working hard to get more players into the game by expanding the queue size. They boosted it five times faster, but after about half an hour, the system overloaded again. Now, they’re restarting, digging deep to find out what went wrong, and rushing to fix things so everyone can join in as quickly as possible.
It seems that the difficulties have been overcome, enabling players to start playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 smoothly. In other words, we’ve fixed the problems and are letting players in gradually, so they can enjoy the game without interruption. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience during this time.
The new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, which is named Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, has been released. You can find it on both the Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms. It will be accessible through the second wave of November’s Xbox Game Pass titles.
