Microsoft Eyeing Further Acquisitions Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Confirms

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation at the latest news from Xbox Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. The acquisition spree Microsoft has been on, starting with Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax Media, is nothing short of monumental.

Microsoft’s Xbox Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer, has made it clear that the company is open to additional acquisitions, given its recent purchase of Activision Blizzard for a whopping $68.7 billion and acquisition of ZeniMax Media, Bethesda’s parent company, back in 2020 for $7.5 billion.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Spencer expressed that Microsoft is keen on participating in the gaming market. He also mentioned that if they discover teams, technology, or skills that can complement their gaming initiatives at Microsoft, they will definitely stay vigilant and consider such opportunities.

He mentioned that it’s beneficial for us to gain insights from creative teams boasting exceptional, one-of-a-kind skills. The potential lies in collaborating with Chinese creative teams on a global scale. However, he emphasized that no immediate plans or developments are currently underway.

Spencer hinted at the possibility that additional first-party Xbox Game Studio releases might become available on multiple platforms down the line, similar to how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will transition to PlayStation 5 in early 2025.

There’s been a recurring chatter about the possibility of an Xbox-branded handheld device, and this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about it. We’ll stay skeptical until there’s concrete evidence to support its existence.
