Mickey Rourke’s Shocking Big Brother Outburst

Mickey Rourke is currently receiving criticism from fellow celebrities due to his offensive, homophobic comments towards Celebrity Big Brother contestant JoJo Siwa, which occurred on Wednesday.

Onlookers were astonished as the 72-year-old Hollywood actor, reportedly, left 21-year-old dancer JoJo in tears when he allegedly used a derogatory term for LGBTQ+ individuals and implied that he could change her sexual orientation during their time together in the house.

After the airing of the comments, Nicola McLean, Rhian Sugden, Chrishell Stause along with her partner G Flip have taken to social media to voice their displeasure and call for Mickey’s removal from the program.

Chrishell Stark from Selling Sunset shared on Instagram: “I’ve just read an article about his comments. Here solely to back Jojo, and I eagerly await his immediate removal.

Chrishell’s partner added: ‘So f*kn disgusting.’

On X, Rhian shared: “I’m really uneasy watching Mickey Rourke on #CBB. It seems necessary for him to be taken off the show.

Previously, model Nicola (who had been on the show twice), expressed her thoughts to WhichBingo: “I don’t intend to turn this into a feminist discourse, considering it’s Big Brother, but men should strive to improve their behavior.

‘We need to do better at calling it out. But JJ handed it like a boss, but she shouldn’t need to.’

Regulatory body Ofcom is facing calls for action following an incident on the ITV program, where Mickey received a formal reprimand from Big Brother.

Spectators argued that producers ought to have taken additional action, such as evicting him from the house, and urged regulatory body Ofcom to act promptly.

When a complaint is made to Ofcom, it is evaluated according to the Broadcasting Code to determine if a more thorough probe is necessary.

Expressing on Twitter to X, fans expressed outrage: ‘A complaint has been submitted to Ofcom. Mickey Rourke should be removed from that house. Jokes about violence against women and girls are not acceptable, those who think they can change homosexual women through rape belong in the past and have no place in today’s society. #CBBUK’

I’m utterly appalled by what I just heard on Big Brother UK (#CBBUK)! A 21-year-old housemate suggesting that he would tie someone up and convert them from being gay? Not only is this statement deeply offensive, but it also shows a lack of respect and understanding for others. His language was vile and inappropriate, and he needs to be removed immediately. #CBB

This is beyond unacceptable! Can’t we stop tolerating such behavior and instead call it out for what it is – harmful to women and girls. Yes, he should be taken off the show. Continuing to keep him on sends a message that his comments are acceptable, which is ridiculous!

Later on, Kath Ebbs, JoJo Siwa’s partner, labeled Mickey as a “boorish pig” and a “potentially harmful individual,” in response to his offensive homophobic remarks.

Kath, a non-binary individual using both she/her and they/them pronouns, expressed anger on Instagram after the recent episode, calling for Mickey’s removal from the show.

As she expressed gratitude towards Chris Hughes for supporting her partner JoJo, she also voiced her frustration that only he in the house was shown confronting Mickey about his actions.

She expressed: “Many people have asked for my opinion about Mickey Rourke’s remarks toward JoJo, and to be honest, they were incredibly disrespectful and difficult for me to comprehend after watching Big Brother. It took me quite a while to even begin processing such disturbing comments.

‘Firstly, she is more than just my literal love of life and I feel an overwhelming need to safeguard her from harm. I’m powerless to be with her during this difficult time, not only to offer comfort but also to confront the despicable man who has caused this distress. Additionally, I have deep emotional ties to her wellbeing and cannot stand by idly while others make hurtful comments about her.’

In a conversation about personal preference, Mickey queried the influencer about their romantic interest, saying, “Are you attracted to women or men?” To this, the influencer revealed, “As for me, I prefer women. However, my partner identifies as non-binary.

Mickey firmly asserts that if he spends more than four days with her, he will alter her sexual orientation, stating: “By staying here for over four days, I’ll make you heterosexual.

JoJo responded: ‘I can assure you that my sexual orientation will remain the same, and I’m happily in a long-term relationship.’

‘I’ll swiftly vote out the lesbian.’

In a different phraseology, here’s how the conversation might sound:

JoJo, listening in, responded sharply: “I find that remark offensive, if that’s what you meant.” Chris quickly stepped in to support her by saying, “You can’t say things like that, Mike.

Unphased, Mickey persisted, saying, “I require a cigarette,” then indicating toward JoJo and stating, “I’m not addressing you.

Once more, Chris counters with, “Mickey, that’s not something you should say,” to which Mickey responded, “I understand. I was referring to a cigarette.

Kath noted: “It’s not only based on misogyny and violence, but also on his hostile remarks towards others, including violent comments.

The brief five-minute exchange we saw contains a multitude of intricate aspects, it’s truly mind-boggling.

Initially, he queries whether she prefers dating men or women, and she reveals that she identifies as a lesbian. Subsequently, he expresses his intention to change her sexual orientation if she stays in the house for a while. However, she firmly rejects his statement.

After she turns it off, she claims he intends to bind her up. In other words, that’s a joke about rape, let’s label it as such.

She notes that she repeatedly silences him, to which he responds, “I’m going to eliminate you.” This behavior stems from misogyny.

In that instant, he considered her unattractive and then left, if the male gaze is irrelevant in this scenario and I have no sexual control over you, which was not intended to be disrespectful, Mickey. You resemble a foot, so it’s unlikely that anyone would find you appealing due to your perceived losses.

If he doesn’t find your responses amusing with his inappropriate jokes, he may resort to bullying behavior towards you. If you refuse to engage with his creepy humor, he threatens that he will bully you and makes it clear that he does not want you around. He then proceeds to use a derogatory slur against you by calling you a homophobic slur.

She mentioned, “I must admit, I was hoping for a deeper discussion, but it seems we didn’t delve into more complex topics.

Indeed, I’m relieved that the production issued him a formal caution for his alleged use of homophobic language, but it’s crucial to emphasize that such potentially harmful speech should be avoided, especially in a public setting like a TV show where cameras and security are prevalent.

Furthermore, it’s clear that we encountered the charming Chris Hughes. Chris, I must express my gratitude for taking over my responsibilities; I was quite distressed. However, witnessing him stand by her, offering comfort, helped alleviate some of my discomfort, as this situation is troubling indeed. It’s worth noting that Chris being a cisgender, heterosexual white man adds an unexpected yet reassuring dimension to the scenario.

In such critical moments, it’s regrettable but essential to have partners who can bravely confront abusive, misogynistic, and homophobic individuals.

Unfortunately, in times like these, the kind of allies we need are those who aren’t afraid to take a firm stance against violent, misogynistic, and homophobic men.

It seems clear that the TV show’s setting makes me believe she’s safe, yet I can’t help feeling a tad let down as they didn’t explore her situation more deeply.

I’d be extremely disheartened if the public decides against eliminating Mickey. Regardless of how amusing or entertaining you find him, my preference is for him to leave the competition.

He is untrustworthy and poses a risk. I wouldn’t feel comfortable being in a room with him by myself, and I would advise against anyone else doing so as well.

As Chris consoled JoJo following their exchange, leaving her noticeably distressed, Mickey was summoned to the Diary Room where he received a caution.

Before stepping into the Big Brother house, Mickey, it’s important to note that we discussed the guidelines about inappropriate language and conduct.

He proceeded to recount the entire conversation for Mickey, saying: “Mickey, are you aware that the language used in this conversation might be seen as disrespectful to your fellow Housemates or the television audience?

Mickey said: “I believe that’s correct. But just to clarify, I wasn’t being rude or sincere with my previous statement.

Big Brother continued: ‘Mickey, Big Brother thinks your language was offensive and unacceptable.’

‘Alright. I can understand that,’ Mickey agreed.

Later, Big Brother gave the celebrity a written caution and clarified, “Any more inappropriate speech or actions might result in your eviction from the Big Brother house. Mickey, are you getting this?

Mickey added: ‘Yes I do. It’s some serious stuff.’

Under the influence of Big Brother, he eventually expressed his apologies, admitting that his words were merely empty talk and not a reflection of dishonorable motives.

‘I wasn’t taking it all so serious. I didn’t mean in it any bad intentions and if I did, sorry.’

Additionally, Kath criticized Big Brother for including Mickey in their lineup, as he had been arrested years ago for allegedly abusing his spouse, involving instances of slapping and kicking against Carr in the ’90s. However, this case was eventually dismissed.

Previously, the contentious actor stood accused of pointing a firearm at his then-spouse, Carré Otis, during their honeymoon, and threatening to take his own life using a Japanese samurai sword if she didn’t agree to marry him.

The actor had been blamed for waving a gun at his ex-wife on their honeymoon and saying he would kill himself with a sword if she didn’t accept his proposal.

In the year prior to their divorce in 1998, Mickey faced arrest due to accusations that he had struck and kicked Carré (currently aged 56). However, this case was eventually dismissed.

Apart from degrading JoJo with distasteful remarks, he also criticized Donna Preston’s body, made disparaging comments about actress Patsy Palmer’s culinary abilities, and it was observed that his inappropriate comments were primarily targeted towards the female residents of the house.

Later in the episode, Mickey caused further offence when he ‘fat shamed’ actress Donna, 38.

In her bedroom, Donna was utilizing an LED mask, explaining that it was intended to address her neckline wrinkles.

Later, Mickey inquired if it was functioning properly, and she answered, indicating that she hadn’t observed any outcomes as of yet.

This prompted Mickey to respond impolitely, saying something like, ‘Perhaps you could take a quick jog around the block for 10 minutes instead.’

After that, Donna mentioned, “I guess I’m developing a bit of a wattle,” and Mickey replied, “It’s just part of the process… It’s like the saying goes, ‘You are what you eat.'” (In this case, ‘wattle’ refers to a turkey neck.)

Patsy then interjected to kindly remind the room that Donna ‘eats really healthy now…’

Later on, she found the situation amusing and shared it with Ella Rae Wise and Danny Beard, recounting his words. In response, Danny Beard playfully quipped, “Even a French Bulldog has a better physique.

The subject of food was brought up again when Mickey insulted Patsy’s cooking.

Spectators found the occurrence distasteful, expressing surprise that Mickey was merely reprimanded with a verbal caution instead of being dismissed from the program altogether.

A disgruntled ITV viewer expressed their thoughts on social media platform X: ‘Mickey Rourke’s continued presence in #CBBUK is distressing, considering his history of treating women poorly from the beginning and his offensive behavior towards Jojo is appalling and extremely upsetting to observe.’

It’s truly shameful… treating a young woman in such a manner merely for being who she is. Mickey should be removed immediately.

‘He has shown absolutely no remorse whatsoever, vile behaviour from Mickey’

TopMob has contacted ITV representatives for comment.

In conclusion, during the finale of the program, JoJo employed her elimination power against Mickey. This move means Mickey is now subject to the public’s voting before the initial elimination takes place.

Celebrity Big Brother continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
