Mickey Rourke’s lease on LA rental nixed after court determines he defaulted on eviction

A Los Angeles court ruled in favor of landlord Eric T. Goldie on Monday, issuing a default judgment against actor Mickey Rourke in a case about being evicted from a rental property.

According to court documents obtained by Daily Mail, Goldie won her eviction case against the 73-year-old actor by default.

According to legal documents filed in December, Mickey Rourke, known for his role in The Wrestler, owes $59,100 in back rent on a property located near Drexel Avenue, according to Goldie.

The actor, known for movies like Diner, Rumble Fish, and 9½ Weeks, didn’t reply to the eviction notice within the time allowed by California law. As a result, the court ruled in favor of the landlord automatically.

As a lifestyle advisor, I’ve seen tricky housing situations, and this one just wrapped up! The court ruled in Goldie’s favor, giving her the keys right away and completely canceling the old lease. Basically, Rourke no longer has any rights to the property and won’t be able to live there going forward. It’s a clean break for Goldie, and she can finally move forward with her plans.

Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Rourke for further comment on the story.

The court’s decision on Monday focused solely on who lives at the property, rather than any financial disagreements related to the lease.

According to court documents filed by Goldie, the actor from Angel Heart was given three days to either pay what he owed or move out on December 18th.

Philip Rourke Jr., known as Rourke, has lived in the three-bedroom Southern California house since March 30, 2025, and pays $5,200 in rent each month under the terms of his lease.

According to a legal complaint filed in Los Angeles on December 29th, Goldie claims the actor hasn’t followed the court order to either pay what he owes or leave the property.

Goldie also requested the court to make the actor pay her legal fees from his attempt to recover the rent, and to cancel the rest of their rental contract.

Rourke stated he didn’t know a business associate had created a GoFundMe campaign for him, which raised approximately $100,000.

Mickey Rourke recently told photographers in Los Angeles that a former employee was responsible for the incident. He used strong language when referring to it, saying, ‘That was some lady who worked for me did that s.’

I admit I don’t know much, and it’s frustrating and embarrassing. I’m determined to learn, though, I just need a little more time.

In the outing, Rourke also vented about the eviction, saying the property was in disrepair.

Honestly, it was awful. When I went to the kitchen, the sink was completely unusable. There were two bathrooms, but one of them had no water at all! And to top it off, there was no heat, the air conditioning was broken, and the place was infested with rats and mice. It was a really unpleasant experience.

The house was built in the late 1920s, and it had really deteriorated – the floors were rotting, especially in places like under the sink. This meant mice and rats could easily get in, and honestly, I just don’t want to live in a place like this.
