Mickey Rourke is attempting to repay over $100,000 to the people who kindly offered him financial support.
After being evicted from his Los Angeles home in late 2025 due to around $60,000 in unpaid rent, 73-year-old Rourke publicly criticized a GoFundMe campaign created for him, labeling it a ‘scam’ and ’embarrassing’.
He told his followers, in all caps, that his lawyer is working hard to get their money back as soon as possible.
The actor continued his angry message, explaining that over $90,000 still needs to be returned to donors. He strongly stated that whoever was responsible for the situation should not receive any of the funds, using highly offensive language.
Rourke ended by saying his only concern right now is the health of his friend, Eric Dane. Dane revealed last April that he has ALS, a disease that progressively affects the nerves controlling muscles.
The former Hollywood star desperately asked for help, writing, “Please shoot Eric Sone – send strong prayers!” This plea comes as he’s been turning down work despite facing money problems and the threat of eviction.

Following reports about his financial difficulties and ongoing eviction case, Rourke recently shared a post on social media that suggests he’s carefully choosing which projects to work on.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I just saw this! Kimberly Hines, his manager, told TMZ that everyone is suddenly offering Jake Rourke jobs! Like, tons of them! It’s amazing, he deserves all the work coming his way, and it’s finally happening! I’m so excited for him!
The available opportunities include independent films, photo sessions, and in-person events like appearances and autograph signings. Hines mentioned she secured six offers for the actor within just two days.
Rourke’s pride, however, is apparently getting in the way of an actual job.
According to Hines, Robert Downey Jr. will now only accept roles that offer a very high daily rate – around $200,000 – reflecting his status as a top star.
The Academy Award-winning actor, known for collaborating with stars like Kim Basinger, Marisa Tomei, and Bruce Willis, is eager to continue working with similarly talented actors and directors throughout his career.
Hines believes that if Rourke focuses on doing good work, financial success will follow.
Oh my gosh, I just heard from a source that Mickey was at a hotel in West Hollywood with his precious pups, but he’s already leaving! Apparently, he’s moved into a new place in Los Angeles, which is AMAZING! I’m so excited for him and his dogs to settle in. TMZ said so, and they’re always right when it comes to Mickey!

Hines thinks Rourke has the potential to regain his former success, but he needs to start working again to rebuild his career.
Rourke’s acting career had been struggling, but it received a major boost when he played Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson in the 2008 drama, The Wrestler, directed by Darren Aronofsky.
He was nominated for an Oscar for his acting and also won both a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award.
He appeared in Iron Man 2 and The Expendables, both released in 2010, but his career stalled and didn’t regain momentum.
He’s also known for his work on popular films like 9½ Weeks (1986), Angel Heart (1987), and Sin City (2005).
In the 1980s and early 1990s, Rory Rourke was known as a highly skilled and captivating actor in Hollywood.
He was initially seen as a charming rebel, but his reputation quickly declined. His self-destructive habits and struggles with addiction made him difficult to collaborate with.
By the early 1990s, his acting career began to decline, and he left Hollywood to become a professional boxer. Boxing caused him several injuries, including a broken nose and cheekbone. He apparently attempted to repair these with plastic surgery, but the results significantly changed his appearance.

Last month, Rourke received a notice demanding he pay $59,100 in unpaid rent for his Los Angeles property within three days, or he could be evicted.
Liya-Joelle Jones, an assistant to Hines, started a fundraiser. She stated that Robert Rourke fully approved of the GoFundMe campaign.
Within two days, the campaign raised $100,490 effectively surpassing its $100,000 goal.
Hines explained that they told Mickey Rourke about the GoFundMe campaign, but he didn’t seem to fully grasp what it was about. He simply said, ‘Okay, great.’ Hines believes Rourke didn’t understand the situation, and the resulting media attention caused him to become upset.
