Mickey Rourke surprised fans with a noticeably younger appearance when he reappeared on Instagram, while reports about his financial troubles were surfacing.
At 73 years old, he’s in serious financial difficulty and was evicted from his Los Angeles home after accumulating around $60,000 in unpaid rent by the end of 2025.
After fans quickly raised around $100,000 through a GoFundMe campaign started by his manager’s assistant, Rourke refused to accept the money, strongly criticizing the effort as a ‘cruel embarrassment’.
People who admire actor Mickey Rourke were worried when he was seen looking tired and unwell on New Year’s Day. He was picking up a Taco Bell order at the house he was about to be forced to leave.
He looked remarkably younger and more refreshed in a photo he shared on Monday, almost as if he’d undergone a transformation.
He looked energetic and cheerful in a photo taken with his friends, bodybuilders Khan Yalaman and Jessica Vetter-Yalaman, while they were having dinner.
Mickey Rourke shared a photo from a Korean BBQ dinner with his friends, whom he referred to as ‘training partners’ – Shah Rukh Khan and Jessica. Both Khan and Jessica also shared the same picture on their Instagram accounts.
Last month, people saw Rourke bald while he was on his porch. However, when he went to a restaurant, he wore a hairpiece and topped it off with a cowboy hat.
The group went out to celebrate Vetter-Yalaman’s birthday, and she shared on Instagram that she was celebrating with her closest friends.
Just weeks after publicly clashing with his landlord and getting into a heated argument with his manager – filled with strong language – Rourke hosted a dinner party.
He was seen leaving Joe’s Pizza in Los Angeles and openly criticized his manager, Kimberly Hines, for launching a $100,000 GoFundMe campaign while he was facing eviction.
I was so worried when I heard about Hines trying to raise money to keep from being evicted. It was heartbreaking! But then I found out Rourke refused the help, which was shocking enough. Even worse, he actually said he wanted revenge on the person managing his career! It’s just… unbelievable, and I’m really concerned about where things are headed.
During a recent public appearance, he claimed someone who used to work for him was responsible, stating, ‘That was done by a former employee.’ He then added, ‘I honestly have no idea what happened.’
I’m both ashamed and furious about what happened. I’m the type of person who doesn’t forget, and I will address it eventually, but now isn’t the moment.
The Daily Mail reached out to Hines over her client’s comments.
The Academy Award nominee became very angry, strongly criticizing his landlords and calling them offensive names after they began the eviction process.
Rourke angrily explained that the new owners of the house – who were from New York, or somewhere else – had neglected essential repairs. He specifically mentioned a broken kitchen sink, issues with the bathrooms – one had no water – a lack of heat, malfunctioning air conditioners, and a rodent infestation.
The house was built in the late 1920s, and it had really deteriorated – the floors were rotting, especially in places like under the sink. This meant mice and rats could easily get inside, and honestly, I just don’t want to live in a place like this.
The actor described enjoying his living arrangement when an elderly woman of Mexican descent owned the property, but things became difficult when new owners took over and significantly increased the rent.
The actor launched into a crude and offensive outburst, saying, “They can go sleep with each other. Why don’t they just go to a hotel and do that?”
This news follows reports that he’s carefully choosing his work, even though he’s facing money problems and legal issues related to unpaid rent on his Los Angeles home.
Rourke’s manager has been getting a number of job offers in the few weeks, as per TMZ.
The available opportunities include independent films, photoshoots, and in-person events like appearances and signings. Hines also mentioned she’s received six offers for the actor in just the past two days.
Despite recent money problems and saying he’s living paycheck to paycheck, the former movie star apparently isn’t interested.
According to Hines, Robert De Niro is so proud of his work that he now expects to be paid around $200,000 a day – the same rate as the biggest stars.
Mickey Rourke, known for acting alongside stars like Kim Basinger, Marisa Tomei, and Bruce Willis, continues to seek out projects with equally talented and renowned actors and directors.
Hines believes that if Rourke focuses on doing good work, financial success will follow.
The actor is currently staying at a hotel in West Hollywood with his three dogs. His manager said he’ll be moving out at the end of the week and has a new apartment ready for him in Los Angeles.
Hines announced that all donations made to the $100,000 GoFundMe campaign created to support the actor will be refunded, as he found the fundraising effort ‘humiliating’.
She added that Rourke should recognize there are people who genuinely want to help him.
As someone who’s seen a lot of people navigate challenges, I truly believe Rourke has the potential to regain his former success. But honestly, getting back to work is going to be key for him to rebuild his confidence and get things moving forward again.
Rourke’s acting career had been struggling, but it got a major boost in 2008 when he played Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson in Darren Aronofsky’s film, The Wrestler.
He was nominated for an Academy Award for his acting and also won both a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award.
I was so excited to see him in Iron Man 2 and The Expendables back in 2010, but sadly, it felt like his career just didn’t maintain that momentum after that. It was disappointing to watch, honestly.
He’s also known for his roles in popular films like 9½ Weeks (1986), Angel Heart (1987), and Sin City (2005).
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Robert De Niro was considered one of Hollywood’s most captivating and unique stars.
He became known for his deep, intense presence and natural charm, and he won praise for his portrayal of a character based on the poet and alcoholic Charles Bukowski in the 1987 movie Barfly.
By the early 1990s, his acting career began to decline when he left Hollywood to become a professional boxer. This led to several injuries that significantly altered his appearance.
Just two days after actor Hines claimed a GoFundMe campaign created to help with his rent was legitimate, despite calling it embarrassing, news surfaced that Robert Rourke has been turning down job opportunities.
Last month, I learned that a client of mine, Rourke, received a really tough notice. He was told he owed over $59,000 in back rent for his Los Angeles property and had just three days to pay it, or he could face eviction. It’s a stressful situation, but we’re working on it!
I was so happy to see Liya-Joelle Jones start a GoFundMe on January 4th to help Ron! She said she works with his manager, Hines, and that Ron knew about and fully approved of the fundraiser. It’s such a relief knowing he’s on board with accepting help from fans like us.
By January 6 afternoon, the campaign raised $100,490 effectively surpassing its $100,000 goal.
I was really shocked to see the video Mickey posted on Instagram Monday night. He seemed incredibly upset, saying he’d never accept charity, even though he’d described his house as being in terrible condition – with rotting floors and a rat infestation! What was even more surprising was that he claimed he didn’t even know about the fundraiser people were doing to help him. It’s just… confusing and heartbreaking to see him so proud but clearly struggling.
Hines, the actor’s manager, later explained that the fundraising page was set up by his team and that all the money raised would go directly to the actor.
The manager also stated they told Rourke about the GoFundMe, but they weren’t sure he completely understood the situation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hines explained they told Mickey Mouse that people offered to assist him. Mickey reportedly responded positively, but Hines believes he didn’t fully grasp the offer. Now, the situation has become a major media event, and Mickey has reacted strongly.
‘Nobody’s trying to grift Mickey. I want him working. I don’t want him doing a GoFundMe.’
She explained that she’d spoken to the actor after the charity campaign began. He told her, ‘People are reaching out from everywhere, offering me money. I’m honestly overwhelmed and don’t know how to handle it.’
Hines said that in response, she told Rourke: ‘It’s okay. let them help.’
On Monday night, Jeremy Rourke publicly criticized the crowdfunding campaign on Instagram. Wearing a bright pink shirt, he expressed confusion and frustration, stating he would never rely on charity if he needed money, and made a graphic comparison, saying he’d choose a much more drastic option instead.
When asked about who might have started the fundraising campaign, Rourke said he had no idea what GoFundMe was and explained that he lives a simple life and doesn’t rely on outside help.
He described the campaign as ’embarrassing,’ but quickly added that he’d move past it, just as he does with other disappointments.
The actor, despite appearing successful, admits he’s actually struggling financially and often lives paycheck to paycheck. He also feels he hasn’t managed his career very well.
He admitted he hadn’t handled the situation with tact. Years of therapy – over two decades, in fact – were needed to heal from the resulting pain. He’d put in a lot of effort to overcome it and emphasized that he was a changed person now.
He asked his supporters to stop donating to the campaign and to get their money back if they had already contributed.
Rourke then shared that he is planning to speak to his lawyer about the situation.
The actor acknowledged taking a loan from a close friend to help with his money problems, and stated he plans to share the friend’s identity in the future.
Honestly, it’s one of the things I adore about him. He’s always said he’d never hit up fans – or anyone, really – for money. He’s just that kind of person, you know? Totally authentic. He’s made it clear it’s just not his thing to ask for handouts, and it makes me respect him even more!
He said he stopped paying rent due to problems with his house, including a rodent infestation, a decaying floor, and no water running to one bathtub and two sinks.
Rourke reassured his followers that he was okay and ended the video by telling people to ask for a refund, explaining that he wouldn’t have handled the situation like that because of his pride.
The online fundraiser for Mickey launched early Sunday, titled ‘Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction.’ It highlighted his long career in Hollywood, aiming to encourage people to donate and help him through a difficult financial situation.
I just saw the news and I’m so worried! Apparently, he’s having trouble with his house in L.A. and might be getting evicted! Can you believe it? But, thankfully, he checked into this amazing hotel in West Hollywood – it’s where all the stars stay, and rooms are like, $550 a night! I’m just glad he’s somewhere comfortable right now, even if things are tough. I’m seriously glued to the updates!
Later that day, witnesses saw two men loading bags of clothing and a suitcase from Rourke’s house into a truck.
According to documents obtained by the Daily Mail, a GoFundMe campaign started after Rourke’s landlord demanded he pay $59,100 in back rent or face immediate eviction.
According to a lawsuit filed by Eric T. Goldie, the actor from Angel Heart received an eviction notice on December 18th, giving him three days to pay rent or move out.
Philip Rourke Jr., known as Rourke, has been living in a three-bedroom house in Southern California since March 30th. He signed a lease to rent the property for $5,200 per month.
According to a legal complaint filed in Los Angeles on December 29th, Goldie claims the actor hasn’t followed through with a previous court order to either pay what he owes or leave the property.
Goldie requested the court order the actor to pay his legal fees related to the rent dispute, and to cancel the rest of their rental contract.
Early in 2026, Rourke surprised his fans with a dramatically different appearance. He was seen leaving his Los Angeles home looking very thin and with a completely shaved head, just a few days prior.
Fans were surprised to see the actor looking quite different from his former, more muscular self when he collected a Taco Bell delivery at his house on New Year’s Day.
Rourke has openly acknowledged his career has stalled, and he attributes this to his quick temper, which has repeatedly caused problems with directors and was evident again during his challenging time on a reality show.
He explained to The Sun that his difficulty getting leading roles in major films was due to his quick temper, which prevented him from being cast in projects he considered meaningful.
‘I’ve made mistakes, many, I have nobody to blame for my ship sinking except myself.’
I was shocked to learn that this actor, a New York native, has been through so much! He revealed he’s actually broken his nose twice, needing five surgeries to fix it, and on top of that, he fractured his cheekbone. It’s incredible how he keeps going despite these injuries.
People have long been curious about the changes in Robert De Niro’s appearance, wondering if they were caused by his boxing career or cosmetic procedures gone wrong.
