Mick Molloy’s radio partner reveals the secret behind Triple M’s new breakfast line up for 2025 amid major shakeup at the radio network

Mick Molloy's radio partner reveals the secret behind Triple M's new breakfast line up for 2025 amid major shakeup at the radio network

As a dedicated fan who has grown up with Triple M’s breakfast banter, the latest news about the 2025 lineup sends my heart racing like a vintage Holden V8! Titus O’Reily’s revelation that Mick Molloy kept the secret of his return to Melbourne for months is as thrilling as an unexpected pit stop during the Bathurst 1000.

Triple M are set to launch a new look breakfast team in 2025.

One of the main attractions in the latest lineup, Titus O’Reily, disclosed that his co-host, Mick Molloy, was aware of the changes for several months prior – and chose to keep it confidential.

‘Mick would not say anything,’ O’Reily said in a new interview with the Swanny and Friends podcast.

‘He is actually weirdly professional about some things. For someone who is known as being not professional, if he needs a secret he won’t say it, especially if it is a commercial secret.’

In November, it was announced by Triple M that, after co-hosting Sydney’s morning show with Mark ‘MG’ Geyer for the past two years, Molloy will be relocating to Melbourne in 2025.

In another part of the conversation, Alex Twomey (also known as O’Riley) mentioned that it was Molloy who invited him to join the role at Triple M.

He summoned me into his office for a lengthy discussion that lasted about forty minutes … and then he said, “I need to share some news with you. I plan to return to Melbourne to host morning radio shows again. So, you will be part of this venture, correct?

‘And I go ”Yeah”.’

O’Riley is set to be part of the fresh Triple M morning crew along with Molloy, Nick Riewoldt, and Rosie Walton.

The upcoming morning show is now known as “Mornings with Mick, Roo, Titus, and Rosie,” and it will premiere on Monday, January 20, replacing Wil Anderson and Dale ‘Daisy’ Thomas who are stepping down this year.

Previously, it was revealed by Daily Mail Australia in an exclusive report last month that NRL star-turned-TV presenter Beau Ryan will take over as the host of Triple M’s morning show in Sydney starting in the New Year.

Ryan will replace fellow former rugby league player Mark Geyer, who was sacked in November.

Ryan, who was a regular on the discontinued Footy Show on Channel Nine, has lately taken up hosting roles for The Amazing Race, Gladiators Australia, and Top Gear on Channel Ten.

However, it should be noted that this individual, at 39 years old, doesn’t have extensive radio experience, having only worked as a co-host for a brief period of three months on the now-defunct Macquarie Sports Radio breakfast show back in 2018.

He occasionally steps in for the Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS FM during times when Kyle Sandilands is unable to attend.

Ryan has been selected to take up a permanent position during Triple M Sydney studios’ challenging phase, especially following the unexpected exit of Geyer, on radio’s key timeslot.

On November 20th, Geyer learned that he wouldn’t be back with Mick & MG in the Morning for the following year. The show aired from 6 am to 9 am. Consequently, he wound up wrapping things up right away.

For over a decade, the 56-year-old has been part of Triple M, starting in 2009. During this time, they co-hosted the show alongside comedian Mick Molloy, with Cat Lynch and Natarsha Belling providing support in their roles as assistants.

Insiders at the radio station have told Daily Mail Australia that Ryan is set to headline the upcoming Sydney show, with a woman as his co-presenter.

In the recent listener ratings survey, Geyer and Molloy’s audience grew by half a point, reaching 5.1%. Now, that audience will be taken over by Ryan, who has previously played for both the West Tigers and Cronulla.

It seems that Melbourne presenters are reaping the most benefits, given Triple M’s ongoing changes to its programming across Australia.

Next year, the Marty Sheargold Show, already aired nationwide between 3 and 4 pm, will extend its broadcast by an extra two hours in New South Wales and Queensland.

Due to the longer working hours, the broadcast of the Rush Hour shows airing from 4 pm to 6 pm in Sydney and Brisbane has been canceled.

In contrast, Sheargold’s show won’t air during its assigned time in Melbourne, just as it does in Sydney and Brisbane.

In New South Wales (NSW), the talk show “The Rush Hour” was previously led by Gus Worland. In October, it was announced that Worland would be stepping down from his role in radio broadcasting, joined by co-hosts Jude Bolton and Aaron Woods.

In Queensland, The Rush Hour was presented by Leisel Jones, Liam Flanagan and Ben Dobbin.

Beginning next year, Melbourne’s “The Rush Hour” hosted by James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless will air daily from 4 pm to 6 pm not only in Melbourne but also in Adelaide, Hobart, and Perth.

As a die-hard devotee, it’s heartbreaking to announce that my beloved shows Adelaide’s The Rush Hour featuring Bernie Vince, Greg Blewett, and Andrew Jarman, and Perth’s The Rush Hour with Andrew Embley and Katie Lamb are about to disappear from their usual slots.

The early-morning sports show, titled “Dead Set Legends,” which airs on Saturdays from 10am to noon in Sydney and is hosted by Richard Freedman, Candice Warner, and Brendan Annakin, has not been broadcast since October, and its continuation remains uncertain.

12 years ago, Annakin, who used to host the morning show on Triple M in Sydney, was let go from the network about two weeks back.

The network’s Sydney content director Rex Morris’ position has also recently been made redundant.

In Sydney offices, David Cameron, who serves as the Chief Content Officer for Southern Cross Austereo (Triple M’s parent company), was observed when Geyer was being terminated.
