It’s been announced that Michelle Yeoh will take the lead role in an upcoming sequel to the highly successful animated film, “Ne Zha 2,” one of the largest animated productions ever made.
This year saw the debut of a follow-up movie titled “Ne Zha“, which surpassed the global box office earnings of the upcoming sequel to “Inside Out“, making it the highest-grossing animated film worldwide.
According to the renowned Chinese novel “Investiture of the Gods: Fengshen Yanyi,” the movie narrates the story of the demigod Ne Zha and his companion, Ao Bing. They work together to transform their damaged forms with the aim of altering their predestined course.
Under the guidance of director Yu Yang, a fresh take on an age-old Chinese folktale unfolds, as two companions stumble upon a hidden plot that, if revealed, might ignite a battle between righteousness and malevolence.

The movie, initially only shown with subtitles in America and Europe, will soon be available in an English-dubbed version. Teaming up, A24 and CMC Pictures plan to premiere this fresh rendition in cinemas during the summer season.
The acclaimed actress Yeoh, best known for her role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has joined the cast for the new version of the popular movie. She referred to Ne Zha 2 as a significant milestone in Chinese animated filmmaking.
Yeoh expressed his gratitude for being involved in the highly significant Chinese animated film, Ne Zha 2, which underscores the universality of our tales, as he stated in a released statement.

It’s a pleasure to share this with English-speaking audiences, and I’m eagerly anticipating everyone enjoying the emotion, artistry, awe-inspiring visuals, and enchantment that this movie offers in its cinematic form.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the revamped edition is expected to hit screens in North America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on August 22. At this point, it remains unclear if or when the English version will be shown in UK cinemas.
