Michelle Trachtenberg’s Chilling Final Days Revealed
A close friend of Michelle Trachtenberg shared that the actress was aware of a significant risk of death prior to her unfortunate demise at the age of 39 on Wednesday.
Early this morning, around 8 a.m., the former star of Gossip Girl was unfortunately found unconscious in her apartment located close to Columbus Circle, New York City. Her mother made the unfortunate discovery.
It seems there are indications that Trachtenberg, following his struggles with alcohol-related health problems, might have encountered difficulties post liver transplant.
Though the exact reason for her death hasn’t been officially disclosed, photographer Amanda de Cadenet shared insights into her last days in an edited comment on Instagram.
In a post, de Cadenet expressed that she will forever cherish the memory of the vibrant, youthful woman she captured in this photograph… and more recently, the sight of her face during our FaceTime conversation from the hospital. This was shared along with an old photo of the actress, as reported by Page Six.
She went on to say, “Though you didn’t appear to be yourself, your kindness and wit remained just as vibrant. It’s unfortunate that the situation didn’t end more favorably, knowing how close we were to death.
She signed off, ‘Wishing you a peaceful transition sweet friend and may your spirit finally rest.’
During a conversation with DailyMail.com, an employee at the restaurant disclosed that Trachtenberg appeared extremely ill during her last visit and struggled significantly to descend a set of stairs within the establishment.
According to reports from the police to ABC News, Trachtenberg passed away due to natural reasons, possibly facing difficulties post a liver transplant.
Police told DailyMail.com that there is no foul play suspected in her death.
The star’s gaunt appearance stunned staff at Sartiano’s restaurant in SoHo, New York.
On Thursday, February 20th, there were only a few days left until the heartbreaking discovery of the Gossip Girl actor’s death by her mother in her apartment located in Manhattan.
As a lifestyle expert, I noticed that a colleague appeared quite under the weather on Wednesday, almost as if she was battling some serious illness. I chose to remain anonymous when making this observation.
‘She was quite slender, almost petite; her small frame struggled with climbing the stairs. Her disposition wasn’t particularly good, and it didn’t leave a very positive first impression.’
‘It’s spooky because she was in here just last week on Thursday night,’ the worker added.
Learned about her passing not too long ago, and it’s truly disheartening. She was in the company of another kind-hearted individual, a woman, during that time.

‘Many years of happy memories,’ Sartiano wrote alongside a picture of he and Trachtenberg together.
‘Rest in Peace Michelle.’ Sartiano added a broken heart emoji alongside the photo and caption.
According to various sources, Trachtenberg’s death is believed to have been due to natural causes, though the police have not yet officially confirmed this.
She recently underwent a liver transplant, friends of the star told TMZ.
On Wednesday at 8am, Lana, her mother, found her lying in their apartment at Columbus Circle, which they were renting for $7,500 a month.
NYPD officials said an autopsy would be performed.
On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, around 8:01 AM, the police received a 911 call about someone needing help at 1 Columbus Place, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Midtown North Precinct, according to a statement they released.
When they arrived, officers found a 39-year-old woman who was unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene and declared the woman dead.
As a diligent follower, I can assure you that no signs of criminal activity have been uncovered at this point. The Medical Examiner is currently working to establish the cause of the unfortunate event. Rest assured, the investigation continues in its pursuit of answers.
Last year, Trachtenberg took to Instagram to shoot down speculation about her gaunt appearance.
She denied rumors she had undergone cosmetic surgery and added that she was ‘happy and healthy.’
In her latest Instagram post from earlier this month, Trachtenberg appeared delicate as she took a selfie standing by a hedge.
Patients similar to Trachtenberg might undergo a liver transplant following years of heavy alcohol consumption that caused damage to their liver.
Alcoholics who have been given a transplant must abstain from drinking afterwards.
However, liver transplant recipients can still face life-threatening complications despite adhering strictly to post-transplant guidelines.
Just like any other transplanted organ, individuals who receive them need to take potent anti-rejection medications daily for the duration of their lives to prevent their immune system from attacking and discarding the new organ.
In the original Gossip Girl series, which aired from 2008 to 2012, Trachtenberg portrayed the much-loved antagonist, Georgina Sparks.
Blake Lively, who acted with her on Gossip Girl, posted heartfelt messages about Taylor Momsen on Instagram Stories, describing her as someone who was incredibly loyal, kind-hearted, and deeply empathetic after her passing.
As a child actress, Trachtenberg kick-started her career at the tender age of three, appearing on the Nickelodeon series titled “The Adventures of Pete and Pete”.
Her first big movie role was a child sleuth in 1996’s Harriet the Spy.
In 2000, when she joined the TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the actress gained widespread popularity for portraying Buffy’s sister.
