Michelle Keegan’s award-winning Northern-set show is now on Netflix

As a long-time fan of gripping British dramas, I can confidently say that the addition of “Brassic” to Netflix is a game-changer for me! Having grown up in the UK myself, I’ve always had a soft spot for shows that capture the raw essence of northern life, and “Brassic” certainly delivers on that front.

The Michelle Keegan-fronted series Brassic has been added to Netflix, as of today (August 22).

In the make-believe northern town of Hawley, the story revolves around Vinnie O’Neill, played by Joe Gilgun from “This Is England,” and his companions. As they struggle to stay above water, they find themselves drawn into minor crimes and numerous schemes.

The hit comedy-drama series produced by Joe Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst, titled “Brassic,” has been Sky’s highest-grossing comedy in recent times since its debut in 2019 with a six-episode season. This show has garnered several notable award nominations, and in the year 2023, it took home the accolade for Best Comedy Drama Series at the RTS Programme Awards.

Brassic features Michelle Keegan, known for her role as spirited Erin Croft, joining forces with Danny Brocklehurst yet again. Notably, Brocklehurst is also the mastermind behind BBC’s Ten Pound Poms, which recently announced its second season featuring Keegan. Additionally, Brocklehurst was the scriptwriter for Harlan Coben’s latest adaptation, Fool Me Once, which made a powerful debut at the top of Netflix’s list of most-watched series to date.

Throughout the duration of Brassic, a diverse ensemble of actors has graced the screen. Notably, Damian Molony portrays Vinnie’s closest friend Dylan, Ryan Oliver Sampson appears as Aaron Heffernan, Parth Thakerar takes on his role, Bronagh Gallagher plays a significant part, Joanna Higson is also in the mix, and Dominic West completes the impressive cast.

To date, the series has aired five seasons and introduced its inaugural Christmas episode in 2023. In September, fans can look forward to season six, with news of a seventh season already being announced.

At the time of the announcement, Brocklehurst expressed joy in crafting “Brassic” and considered it an honor to continue stirring up excitement for our dedicated and affectionate viewers, he stated.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m always on the lookout for great shows to unwind with after long gaming sessions. Currently, my favorite is Brassic, which you can catch on Sky Max and NOW. Excitingly, it’s also available on Netflix! And guess what? The sixth season is set to drop in September 2024. Can’t wait!
