Michelle Keegan ‘set to hit Hollywood as A-list star Reese Witherspoon eyes her up for lead role in book adaptation’ following Netflix success

Following her recent success in the Netflix series Fool Me Once, Michelle Keegan is now being considered for her first movie role in Hollywood.

The 38-year-old actress, known for her work on Coronation Street, is being considered for a part in the movie based on the latest novel by Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m hearing exciting news! Michelle and Harlan Coben are collaborating again, this time on a brand new crime thriller called ‘Gone Before Goodbye’. Because they worked so well together on the adaptation of Harlan’s ‘Fool Me Once’, Reese Witherspoon is reportedly eager to have Michelle involved in this project too. It sounds like a fantastic team-up for a thrilling read!

At the London Literature Festival last Friday, during the launch of Reese and Harlan’s new book, someone shared that Harlan had been enthusiastically recommending Michelle to Reese, and Reese was eager to meet her.

Reese and Michelle connected instantly, and it was obvious Reese was very impressed with her. Now, they’re hoping to adapt the book into a movie, and Michelle is their top pick to play the main character, Maggie McCabe.

Oh my gosh, Maggie being a combat surgeon just makes so much sense! You know, Michelle Keegan totally nailed playing an army medic – George – in ‘Our Girl’? She was incredible! It’s like she was born to play these strong, capable women, and I just know she’ll be amazing as Maggie too. I’m already obsessed!

According to a source, Harlan and Reese believe Michelle would be a perfect fit for the project and hope she’ll join when the timing is right. It’s still very early in the process.

The Daily Mail have contacted Michelle and Reese’s representatives for comment.

Michelle posted a heartwarming photo on Instagram with Reese and her son, Harlan, expressing her affection for the actress.

She wrote about the making of ‘Gone Before Goodbye,’ excitedly sharing that working with Reese Witherspoon lived up to all expectations – she’s as amazing as everyone thinks!

Reese then replied: ‘So wonderful to meet you .. finally!’

Michelle played the role of Maya Stern in the Netflix series Fool Me Once, which was based on a novel by Harlan Coben and also featured Joanna Lumley. The show quickly became a global hit, reaching the top of Netflix’s most-watched lists.

I’ve always been incredibly impressed with Michelle’s talent – she’s a true star! I’ve openly said before that I’d jump at the chance to collaborate with her again, and I absolutely mean it. She’s just phenomenal to work with.

After her character died in Fool Me Once, Harlan Coben was so upset he desperately tried to come up with any possible storyline – even an unlikely one – that would bring her back for a second season.

Okay, so I’ve heard from someone who’s in the know about Michelle Keegan and Harlan Coben, and honestly, it makes SO much sense! Apparently, they really clicked while filming ‘Fool Me Once,’ and Harlan thinks she’s incredible. He actually said she’s a huge reason the show blew up the way it did – like, he genuinely believes it wouldn’t have been the same without her! I knew they had amazing chemistry on screen, but to hear he thinks so highly of her… it just confirms everything! I’m obsessed with both of them, obviously.

Harlan recently admitted at the National Television Awards that he deeply regretted killing off her character and would do whatever it takes to revive her for a sequel they’ve both wanted for a long time.

After her hit show Fool Me Once in 2024, Michelle Yeoh started getting offers from Hollywood, and she said she’d be open to moving there if she found the right part.

She told The Guardian that she visited America while Mark was there, but didn’t enjoy it. However, she’s open to the possibility of working there if an opportunity arises, saying, ‘Maybe?’

I don’t really plan for the future. I tend to focus entirely on what’s happening right now, and that’s how I prefer to live. I don’t set long-term goals; I simply enjoy living in the present moment.
