Michelle Keegan Says Goodbye to Brassic

Michelle Keegan announced that production has completed for the seventh and last season of Brassic, expressing a heartfelt goodbye to the series on Monday.

The actress, aged 37, has starred as Erin Croft in the Sky series since 2019, and recently on Instagram, she expressed heartfelt gratitude towards this modest yet powerful show, acknowledging its significant role in her personal journey.

Michelle, having temporarily resumed work to shoot her final scenes following the birth of her child Palma in March, publicly posted a collection of photos from her time on the show, featuring numerous snapshots alongside the rest of the Hawley crew.

This year, the television series centered around small-time crook Vinny, portrayed by co-creator Joe Gilgun, and his band of misfits trying to survive in a made-up northern town, is set to air its last season.

She captioned her post: ‘Goodbye Erin…

At last, the Brassic adventure concludes (it’s odd to express that), and what a phenomenal seven years it was! I can’t help but feel honored to have contributed in some way to such an impressive production.

‘From the moment I read the 1st script I knew this job was going to be special & it definitely was.

I’d like to express my gratitude to all those who contributed to the show throughout the years. The laughter, friendships, and most significantly, the unforgettable moments we shared together – it’s been an enchanting journey spanning over seven magical years.

A week ago, during Michelle’s last shoot, both she and her partner Mark Wright accompanied their little girl to the Brassic set, allowing the rest of the cast to get acquainted with the new family member.

In the finale of Brassic’s sixth season, the audience was left on the edge of their seats as the fate of the Hawley gang hung in the balance, with their bus teetering dangerously over a deep chasm.

In January, it was officially announced that the seventh season would be the final one for the show, with co-creator and writer Danny Brocklehurst expressing: ‘When Joe Gilgun and I started crafting Brassic, we never thought in our wildest imagination that we’d produce seven seasons and amass such a dedicated and loving fan community.’

As a passionate devotee, crafting this quirky universe has brought me unparalleled delight. Yet, even the best of adventures must reach its conclusion, and we choose to dismount our creative steeds while we’re still soaring atop the crest of success.

‘Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA.’

The mix of side-splitting humor and absurd action scenes in Brassic has made it a beloved contemporary comedy across the nation.

A representative from Sky commented on the series finale, stating that viewers swiftly developed a strong bond with this unique band of suburban friends, as they discovered inventive methods to thrive in life’s challenges.

It’s our pleasure to express gratitude towards Joe Gilgun, Danny Brocklehurst, and the entire cast and team – old and new – for delivering an unforgettable series that has touched our hearts with its unique blend of laughter and emotion.

David Livingstone, founder of Calamity Films, stated: ‘By blending extraordinary tales with a generous helping of reality and an exceptionally skilled acting ensemble, we’ve managed to amass one of the most devoted fan bases imaginable.’

Joe Gilgun’s unique creativity and Danny Brocklehurst’s exceptional penmanship have made this an exciting ride. As we bid adieu to this series, it’s our special goodbye gift to the dedicated fans.

Actor-producer Joseph Gilgun has been vocal about making sure the series authentically depicts the camaraderie and daily struggles of the working-class community.

In the fictitious town of Hawley, Brassic narrates the stories of a close-knit circle of friends, with the charismatic Vinnie, portrayed by Joe, serving as their leader. Among them is Erin, skillfully brought to life by Michelle.

Since 2019, the show has been broadcast on Sky. Interestingly, the first four seasons initially premiered on Netflix back in August and gained immense popularity.
