Michelle Keegan fans cry “watched it all” as they binge newly-released BBC drama
Enthusiasts are singing high praise for the resurgence of Michelle Keegan‘s historical series, Ten Pound Poms, as it makes its comeback with a new season.
The BBC show chronicles a band of British individuals in the 1950s embarking on a journey to Australia, seeking a new beginning. However, they discover that their aspirations for a fresh start don’t quite match up to their expectations.
Following a two-year hiatus, the show is back on BBC, as indicated by the series two teaser revealing that the character played by Keegan, Kate Thorne, is reviving her friendship with Robbie, portrayed by Nic English.
The production also includes recurring characters Annie Roberts, portrayed by Faye Marsay from “Black Mirror”, Terry Roberts, starred by Warren Brown in “The Responder”, and a fresh character, Benny Bates, played by Marcus Graham, who is known for his ruthless role as an unprincipled landlord.
Following the debut of the show on March 9th, fans have been vocalizing their opinions, with numerous individuals commending Keegan’s acting skills portraying the character Nurse Kate.
A spectator commented: “I watched the whole thing tonight, so when is season 3 out?” Meanwhile, another praised: “I adore this show and Michelle’s performance is exceptional.
Another person said, ‘The initial series was exceptional, and your performance is fantastic.’ Meanwhile, another viewer commented, ‘You portray the character beautifully. I watched the premiere of the second season last night – it’s excellent.’
In the initial storyline, Kate journeys to Australia, leaving behind her challenging life as a solo parent in England, with the dream of reuniting with her long-lost son. This boy had been taken overseas by an orphanage affiliated with the Catholic Church as an infant.
Following the discovery of her young son Michael in the first season, the subsequent series delves into their evolving bond while other characters grapple with challenges related to housing, jobs, and relationships in their newly adopted homeland.
The drama taking place in Australia was penned by Danny Brocklehurst, a BAFTA laureate, who’s previously collaborated with Keegan on both Fool Me Once and Brassic projects.
Back in January, it was announced that the critically acclaimed comedy Brassic would conclude with its upcoming season. Creator Iain Brocklehurst expressed that creating this quirky universe has been a source of great pleasure, but every good thing eventually ends, and they wish to part ways while still basking in the series’ success.
Ten Pound Poms is available now on BBC iPlayer. Episodes air live on Sunday on BBC One at 8pm.
