Michelle Heaton reveals she nearly lost her husband during alcoholism battle as she reflects on 'burning bridges' while fighting addiction

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I can wholeheartedly empathize with Michelle Heaton‘s journey and admire her strength in overcoming her battles with alcoholism. Her story serves as a powerful reminder that addiction can push even the strongest relationships to their limits, but love and understanding can often be the driving force behind recovery.

Michelle Heaton shared insights about her struggle with alcoholism, revealing how it almost cost her husband. As she looked back on the ‘eroded connections’, she emphasized the impact of her journey.

45-year-old Keisha Buchanan, who is known as the lead vocalist of Liberty X, has remained sober for approximately three and a half years following a hospitalization in 2021, which took place during her struggle against alcohol and substance abuse.

Even though Michelle is currently enjoying a fulfilling life with her Irish spouse, Hugh Hanley, and their two kids, Faith, aged 12, and AJ, 10, it’s worth noting that their relationship hasn’t always been smooth sailing in the past.

She confided in OK! Magazine that during the peak of her addiction, she frequently asked her businessman spouse to depart from her and would routinely distance herself from him.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d share this: “Indeed, my addiction had a profound impact on my marriage. Fortunately, my husband, bless him, chose to stay.

‘He knew I was in there somewhere, he was just waiting for me to find myself again.

‘I’ve burnt bridges with friends – they couldn’t bear to see me self-destruct.

‘When you’re an alcoholic, you push people away because you feel like you don’t deserve love.’

As your trusted lifestyle guide, I’m happy to share that I’ve been fostering an open dialogue regarding my past struggles. I’ve taken the time to address many questions that have come up along the way.

For four years, while battling her addiction, Hugh needed to distance herself from her actions to maintain well-being for their family’s sake.

Referring to Hugh as “the perfect gentleman,” the singer expressed that he is an exceptional individual, even going so far as to say he saved her life. However, she admitted that his disorganized conduct at home often leaves her exasperated.

Since 2018, nearly every day found this singer consuming two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka, a habit that peaked during her struggle. However, an intervention orchestrated by Katie Price culminated in her seeking treatment at a rehabilitation center.

In conversation with The Sun, Michelle expressed that her actions were equivalent to a desperate plea for aid, as she wasn’t able to explicitly ask for help during her addiction. She explained that being an addict often makes one feel trapped and hopeless.

In simpler terms, I reached my lowest point due to excessive drinking, experiencing intense pain. My doctor could tell that my liver protruded because I was extremely emaciated.

Michelle shared details about the three-year period during which she indulged heavily, consuming approximately a gram of cocaine each evening along with alcohol.

She shared about her friends’ action, mentioning that she was trembling, weeping, and under the influence of alcohol. Katie Price then declared, “Alright, you’re heading to The Priory.

Katie has previously been a patient at The Priory as she battled her own demons.

The loving mother received information from the staff at Priory that the amount of GGT enzyme, an indicator of liver harm, in her bloodstream was an unusually high 2,500 units compared to the normal level of 30 found in a healthy individual.

Over the holiday season of 2020, Michelle ended up in the hospital due to an excessive drinking event in Liverpool. After losing consciousness, she required an intravenous drip for two days.

After her release from the hospital, she promptly made her way to the closest liquor store and continued consuming alcohol.

A few weeks prior, she fainted backstage at a theater before her stage performance, due to severe dehydration caused by excessive alcohol consumption.

Earlier, Michelle expressed gratitude for being alive following her recovery from addiction, attributing it to a protective presence she believes is her guardian angel.

She told new! magazine: ‘On paper, I really should have died years ago. But there’s an angel out there keeping an eye on me and I’m so grateful.

‘Every day, I know I’m lucky to be alive and here for Faith and AJ.’

In the meantime, Michelle criticized those she called “false friends” for trying to exploit her struggles with addiction.

She shared with OK! magazine that after leaving rehab, she and her family chose to reveal her story at their convenience, using their own words, to prevent those claiming to be friends from distorting it.

When questioned about who was betraying her, Michelle clarified: “There were individuals attempting to profit secretly by sharing tales of my addiction. These individuals are aware of their identities.

“I decided to speak up for myself, which ultimately proved beneficial. It allowed me to be truthful and assist others.

She shared with the outlet: “I feel fantastic. I’ve reached a state I longed for, it’s like a dream come true.
