Michelle Dockery says Downton Abbey 3 is a “beautiful film”
Actress Michelle Dockery describes Downton Abbey 3 as a “lovely movie,” with fans getting ready to bid farewell to the Crawley clan.
The third and last movie from the cherished historical series is coming out later this year, marking its conclusion. While fans might feel sad about it ending, Michelle Dockery (who portrays Lady Mary) assures us that we won’t be let down by the final installment.
In that recent chat with Collider, I couldn’t help but express my admiration. This movie is a visual masterpiece, pure eye candy for any gamer like me. And let me tell you, getting the team back together for this project was a gaming bonus we didn’t even know we needed!
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming movie marks a heartfelt goodbye to the incredible Dame Maggie Smith, who graced our screens as the indomitable Dowager Countess Violet Crawley.
In the 2022 sequel, the character met its fate at the closing scenes, prior to Dame Maggie Smith’s passing in 2024. Reflecting on this, Dockery remarked, “It truly paid tribute to the greatness of Maggie Smith and the film.
In the third installment of Downton Abbey, we can expect the comeback of actors like Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Paul Giamatti, and Dominic West.
Dockery reminisced about the delightful meeting with her fellow actor, Giamatti, who portrays Lady Mary’s uncle Harold Levinson.
She expressed delight at collaborating with Paul once more, finding him a joyful individual. Since he was already considered a part of our crew, it was heartwarming to have him return to the production set. Therefore, I am eagerly looking forward to the completion of the movie.
From the start, it was intended to wrap up the series with a set of three movies, as actress Dockery put it.
Well, I wasn’t completely certain about it. Initially, that’s what seemed plausible, but look at us, we ended up making so many films! Honestly, just doing one would have made us thrilled, but the desire was for more, and it’s been an incredible journey.
The new Downton Abbey film, titled “Downton Abbey: A New Era,” is now available for purchase as a digital version. Meanwhile, prepare to return to the big screen with Downton Abbey 3 on September 12, 2025.
