Michael Weatherly Had An Emotional Message (And A ‘Big Kiss’) For Fans Trying To Save Tony And Ziva

Despite a lot of hype, NCIS: Tony & Ziva was canceled in 2025, along with many other shows. The NCIS spin-off, which brought back Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo as their popular characters, was cut by Paramount+ after just one season. However, fans are still working hard to get a second season made, and Weatherly shared a heartfelt message for those who are trying to save the show.

When the show Tony & Ziva was canceled, fans were understandably upset, especially after eagerly anticipating the reunion of Tony and Ziva. It’s no surprise many are trying to bring the series back. In a dedicated effort, fans even displayed a billboard in New York City’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve. The 30-second ad ran at the 46th minute of each hour for a full 24 hours, simply asking to “Save Tony and Ziva.” Michael Weatherly, who played Tony, responded with heartfelt appreciation and shared a New Year’s kiss.

This truly made my day and even brought a tear to my eye – it’s absolutely beautiful. I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed. I see and appreciate all your hard work. Sending lots of love and looking forward to 2026!

It’s amazing when fans rally to save a show, and it’s especially incredible that they came together to fund a New Year’s Eve billboard in New York City! But it was truly special when one of the lead actors learned about their efforts. It’s clear Michael Weatherly was deeply touched by the gesture, proving how much the show Tony & Ziva means to the fans, and to him and the rest of the cast and crew as well.

Although the billboard design was basic – reportedly to avoid copyright issues, according to a fan account – it featured a QR code linking to information about how to support the campaign. It was really disappointing when NCIS: Tony & Ziva ended after just one season, but I’m hoping the New Year’s Eve billboard in New York will help more people learn about and join the cause.

Paramount+ offers plans starting at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. You can choose between the Essential plan at $7.99/month and the ad-free Premium plan at $12.99/month. Both include access to all shows within the NCIS franchise. See the deal here.

It’s uncertain if Tony and Ziva will follow in the footsteps of shows like S.W.A.T., Manifest, Lucifer, Magnum P.I., and Brooklyn Nine-Nine – shows that were canceled but then brought back. However, since the NCIS franchise is still running, it’s possible Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David might return, perhaps on NCIS or NCIS: Sydney. This seems even more likely now that Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo recently met with the cast in Australia.

The future is open for Tony and Ziva, and it’s understandable why fans are still hoping for more. While what happens next is uncertain, all ten episodes of the NCIS spinoff are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
