Michael Klim doesn’t look like this anymore! Olympic swimmer shows off his new style as he spends time with his family in Noosa
He’s most recognized for his chiseled muscular build, shaved head, and intimidating gaze that he earned during his reign in Olympic swimming competitions.
In my own words, I’d say, “I, a die-hard fan, couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Michael Klim during his vacation in Noosa! Gone was the chiseled physique of his competitive days as an elite athlete; instead, he exuded a softer, more relaxed vibe. Spending quality time with family, it seemed he’d found a new rhythm to life.
On Monday, Michael, aged 47, was captured in a set of informal images shared by his daughter Stella on Instagram, showcasing him in a laid-back and cheerful mood. He was seen wearing a black T-shirt and apron while presenting a cooking demonstration for Pork Star Live, an event organized by Australian Pork.
A different image displayed Michael standing alongside Stella on a picturesque terrace, both clad in fashionable black ensembles while smiling over the ocean view.
Instead of the sharp, sculpted appearance that fans recall from his modeling stints and Olympic era, there’s now a warm, cheerful aura of a devoted family man.

Michael expressed his joy by commenting, “It’s fantastic to be with the whole family for Noosa Eat & Drink,” on Stella’s post. This post promptly received an outpouring of heart emojis from followers.
It comes as Michael confirms he’s gearing up for a major life change.
Following over a dozen years spent residing in Bali, the Olympian disclosed his intentions for a permanent relocation to Australia.
Currently, I’m split between Bali and returning frequently, but it won’t be long before we return to Australia permanently to reunite with our children, as he shared with The Daily Telegraph.
‘[Daughter] Stella is with me here in Bali, so we’re kind of still in limbo at the moment.’
Michael moved to Bali in 2012 and currently resides there with his partner Michelle Owen.
It seems that his choice to go back to Australia may have been affected, as per reports, due to his former wife Lindy Klim’s recent move back to the land of kangaroos and koalas.
Michael’s revelation comes after he recently gave an update on his health.

In 2020, the athlete received a diagnosis of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). This week, he shared on The Project that he’s been managing quite well.
Asked how he was doing in terms of his health battle, Michael was optimistic.
He shared that he’s been feeling exceptionally good lately, as both his physical and mental well-being have found a sense of balance. Before addressing the query about his discomfort, he made this clear.
He mentioned that his mobility is limited, yet he has some fantastic Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs), which function similarly to prosthetics. Activities like surfing and tennis, which he enjoys, are no longer possible for him, but last year was the first time in 12 years he went skiing again.
Michael mentioned that there were numerous tasks he was unable to accomplish, yet there were plenty he could, and furthermore, he shared that he’s currently dedicating himself to his organization, The KLIM Foundation, which is actively fundraising and generating awareness for Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP).
He stated that our goal, with the establishment as our base, is to help many afflicted individuals regain control over their lives.
Apart from giving blood donations, we can achieve it through various means such as AFOs (Assistive Flexible Orthotics), proper physical therapy, emotional support, and counseling.
Michael has just shared a heartfelt account of his intense, four-year struggle with the condition, discussing the psychological hurdles he faced as he transitioned from an Olympian athlete to someone who could no longer walk.

At the True North event held by Drew Barrymore and Wanderlust in Sydney during July, Michael described his condition where his leg muscles seemed to vanish as his health worsened.
He explained that in the initial stages, he experienced numerous neurological signs: for instance, many individuals might feel cold feet at night or have a sensation similar to pins and needles on their thighs. However, his issues were more unusual – he started having strange sensations in his legs, which gradually worsened over time.
As I neared the end of my walk, I often found myself losing my balance due to weakened leg muscles. Additionally, pre-existing discomforts in various parts of my body intensified, causing significant inconvenience in my daily activities, ranging from my ankles to my lower back.
Michael, now using a cane for mobility, openly acknowledged that his diagnosed condition had an impact on his mental health, too, as he grappled with understanding and accepting his physical symptoms.
He shared that it wasn’t only challenging on a physical level, but also mentally demanding, when discussing his preparations before actress Drew’s conversation at the ICC Theatre.
Looking at myself, I could see sticks protruding from my body – a stark contrast to the active individual I once was. In just half a year’s time, my physical prowess had been stripped away from me.
Michael is going through a recovery process that includes plasma therapy, which has significantly improved his mobility. This is achieved by decreasing inflammation and repairing damaged nerves.
Additionally, he commended his partner Michelle Owen for her unwavering support during the last four years, acknowledging that this challenging period in his life was not easy to navigate.
Back in October of 2019, I, Klim, publicly acknowledged my budding relationship with the delightful DJ Michelle, a development that transpired three years following my separation from my former wife, model Lindy Klim, in 2016 after a decade-long marriage.
After a six-year marriage with Adam Ellis, I’ve found myself back in Australia, reunited with the enchanting Balinese Princess Lindy, who also happens to be the proud mother of our adorable seven-year-old daughter, Goldie.
Michael and Lindy share three children – Stella, 18, Rocco, 16, and Frankie, 13.
