Netflix is releasing a three-part documentary series that looks back at Michael Jackson’s 2005 trial, where he was found not guilty of charges involving the alleged molestation of a child.
On June 3rd, a new documentary called “Michael Jackson: The Verdict” will be released. It uses old footage and interviews with people closely involved in his trial – jurors, lawyers from both sides, reporters in the courtroom, and others who witnessed the events as they happened.
Twenty years have passed since Michael Jackson’s trial, where he was acquitted, but the case remains controversial. The filmmakers explained that because cameras weren’t allowed in the courtroom, the public only received fragmented information through media commentary. They felt it was time to thoroughly examine the entire trial and present a complete picture of what happened.
As a fan, I really felt like this documentary opened up a part of Michael Jackson’s life that was always kept private. It gave me a sense of being closer to the truth about what he went through, and I appreciated getting a peek behind the scenes.
The trial in Santa Barbara lasted for 14 weeks. After the trial, the jury – made up of eight women and four men – spent over 30 hours across seven days discussing the case before reaching a decision.

The premiere of a new four-hour documentary, “Leaving Neverland,” caused a strong reaction at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday. The film features two men who allege that Michael Jackson sexually abused them when they were children.
Jackson was found not guilty on all ten serious criminal charges against him. These included accusations of molesting a child four times, giving alcohol to the child with the intent to commit molestation four times, attempting to molest a child once, and conspiring to hold the child and his family against their will at his Neverland Ranch. He could have faced over 20 years in prison if convicted.
“Michael Jackson: The Verdict,” a new documentary from the team behind Netflix’s “Untold: The Liver King” (Candle True Stories), arrives as interest in Michael Jackson is growing again. It was directed by Nick Green.
I recently saw the new Michael Jackson biopic, and it was fascinating! It really focuses on his journey from being a young kid to becoming the incredible star he was in the 80s. What struck me was that the film didn’t delve into the controversies that surrounded him later in life, from the 90s until his passing. It really centered on the rise of his career and artistry.
