Michael J. Fox’s Heartfelt Reason for New Memoir After Parkinson’s Reveal

Michael J. Fox will be writing a new memoir – his fifth book.

The actor, 63, revealed his new book title and cover on Wednesday morning.

The book, a collaborative effort with Nelle Fortenberry, carries the title “Future Boy: A Leap Through the Time-Space Vortex”, and is scheduled for release this coming autumn.

In the memoir, the spotlight will be on the year 1985, a time when Michael was juggling work between the film “Back to the Future” and the television series “Family Ties, as well as years preceding his diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease.

In 1991, when Michael was 29 years old, during the production of “Doc Hollywood,” he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease as a result of symptoms such as a sore shoulder and twitching pinky. It wasn’t until 1998 that he chose to announce this condition publicly.

As we get closer to the 40-year mark since Back to the Future was released, I find myself reminiscing about my escapades during my youthful years, he shared with People.

Reading this book feels like stepping into a time machine for me, and it has enough space for anyone interested to join the journey,” he said.

The book is set for release during the same year as the 40th anniversary of “Back to the Future” – the movie that solidified his fame.

In 1985, Michael played the role of Marty McFly, a teenager, in the science fiction film “Back to the Future”. He reprised this role in the subsequent films: “Back to the Future Part II” released in 1989 and “Back to the Future III” in 1990.

He played Alex P. Keaton on Family Times from 1982 until 1989.

According to People, the upcoming “Future Boy” book is set to feature interviews with actors from both the movie and the television show.

The actor told the outlet that that year was a ‘chaotic’ one for him.

Einstein once remarked, ‘Time is the reason everything doesn’t occur simultaneously.’ This was his perspective,” he explained.

Could it be that not even Albert, a man of great wisdom, could comprehend my life during the first few months of 1985, when time seemed to spin out of control and swept me along with it? What was that period like? In one word: hectic.

Michael has written several memoirs previously, such as “A Funny Incident Occurred on the Path to Tomorrow,” “Constantly Gazing Skyward,” “Fortunate Soul,” and “There’s Nothing Quite Like the Present.

He expressed that what intrigues him most about this upcoming book is its shift away from personal memoir towards providing a unique perspective. Essentially, it’s a collection of thoughts he believes many of us grapple with regarding our own lives.

Reflecting on his thoughts, he pondered, ‘Who is this person? What place am I in? And where am I headed? I’d prefer not to reveal too much, but I believe I’ve found the answer.’

The book “Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through Space-Time Continuum” will be released on October 14.
