Michael Cera has revealed “the biggest surprise” about filming his new Wes Anderson movie.
Recently unveiled, the movie titled “The Phoenician Scheme” presents Cera in the role of Bjorn, a Norwegian entomologist. This time, he’s employed to educate the affluent businessman Zsa-zsa Korda, portrayed by Benicio del Toro.
Difficulties arise for Bjorn as he unexpectedly finds himself involved in a complex financial plot with Korda and his daughter, Liesel (played by Mia Threapleton). This leads to a series of strange and attempted killings.
In an exclusive chat with Entertainment Weekly, I, a die-hard fan, confessed that I was totally taken aback when I stumbled upon the fact that my role in the movie would be so pivotal. I was flabbergasted when I finally got my hands on the script and saw the magnitude of my part.
When director Wes sent me the script, I wasn’t anticipating being part of the entire journey, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. It was exhilarating to observe Wes essentially create the entire film.

The star found it unexpectedly delightful to collaborate closely with his teammates. He described the experience as incredibly rewarding.
Speaking about working alongside Wes, Benicio, and Mia, he expressed that it was incredibly satisfying to witness each of their talents unfold and see the film take shape. He also mentioned that being a part of the entire production process with them was truly enjoyable.

Cera stated that he put a lot of emphasis on his part during filming, aiming to faithfully represent the tale and honor Anderson’s artistic concept.
He mentioned, “This film is your one shot at success, and we aim to do justice to the fantastic content that Wes has crafted. It’s truly top-notch material. The difficulty lies in ensuring we hit the mark perfectly.
Working alongside Wes, you gradually chip away at a task until you ultimately feel satisfied. He is tenacious about achieving this goal, which makes you feel assured as an actor that you will eventually master it. You are collaborating with someone who won’t let go until the result is achieved.
The Phoenician Scheme is out now in cinemas.
