There’s good news about the upcoming movie based on the classic arcade game OutRun. A producer has shared a positive update about the project. Announced earlier this year, the film will be directed by the filmmaker behind Transformers and star the actor known for Euphoria. This collaboration was revealed before the actor recently experienced a string of unsuccessful films, beginning with the release of Eden in August.
It’s great to see things finally clicking for Sydney Sweeney! Her new movie, The Housemaid – which also stars Amanda Seyfried – is actually doing pretty well. It’s got a solid 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and has brought in around $26 million worldwide, which is a good sign. What’s really interesting is that’s five times more than all her other 2025 releases – Eden, Americana, and Christy – made combined. As a movie fan, it’s exciting to see her finding a project that really resonates with audiences.
Sydney Sweeney is currently a very in-demand actress with numerous projects on the horizon, including the film OutRun. In a recent conversation with ComicBook, producer Brad Fuller shared an update on the movie, explaining that he had just been discussing it with director Michael Bay. Fuller said, “We’re still in the very early stages. I literally told Bay I needed to jump off our call to focus on it.”
Fuller explained that the film Outrun is inspired by a classic 1980s Sega driving game, something Bay has long wanted to make a movie about. He also praised producer Sasha Sweeney, calling her a “gearhead” and stating that he believes she and Bay are currently making good progress on the script.

I’m a big fan of Sydney Sweeney and really appreciate her long-time support of our company. I want to show my gratitude, and I think our Outrun project would be a great fit for her. She’s genuinely into cars – she actually works on them herself! I’ve paired her with Michael at Universal, and they’re currently developing the script together. It seems like things are moving in the right direction.
Producer Brad Fuller recently talked to ComicBook about his upcoming action comedy, Anaconda, which stars Jack Black and Paul Rudd and is directed by Tom Gormican. Fuller is also known for producing popular projects like the A Quiet Place films, The Purge series, Elevation, Black Sails, and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, among others.
Sydney Sweeney first gained attention with her roles in the HBO series Euphoria and the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which featured a lot of rising stars. Since then, she’s appeared in the popular series The White Lotus, the romantic comedy Anyone But You, and films like Immaculate and Madame Web.
Director Ben Bay recently released the action documentary We Are Storror, and he’s now set to bring his energetic style to the film adaptation of OutRun. With video game movies proving popular lately, this adaptation has good potential to succeed, which could be a positive step for Sydney Sweeney following a challenging year.
