Michael B. Jordan’s upcoming film is a significant departure from his 2025 horror success, Sinners. The movie has received widespread critical acclaim, boosting the careers of everyone involved, particularly Jordan himself, who starred as the twins Smoke and Stack in Sinners.
Michael B. Jordan’s strong performance is a highlight of the film, so people are eager to see what he’ll do next. His upcoming movie is quite different from his recent horror film, Sinners, but that contrast could actually be a good thing for his career.
Swapped Is Almost The Exact Opposite Of Sinners In Many Regards
After the positive reception of Sinners, many expected Michael B. Jordan’s next role to be in a comparable movie – either a supernatural horror film or a historical drama.
You know, it’s funny – I was expecting Jordan’s next project after ‘Sinners’ to be something…different. But it turns out ‘Swapped’ is coming out first! It’s an animated fantasy comedy about a woodland creature and a bird who magically switch bodies. From what I’ve seen, it looks like this forced perspective will really make them understand each other – it’s shaping up to be a surprisingly heartfelt adventure.
Although Swapped also stars Michael B. Jordan as a lead character, alongside Juno Temple, the film’s story is quite different from Sinners. Notably, Swapped appears to be a family-friendly movie that everyone can enjoy, unlike Sinners, which is rated R.

It might surprise people to learn Michael B. Jordan started his acting career with roles in lesser-known films like Sinners and Swapped, but this early experience seems to have set the stage for his later success and promising future.
I’ve always been impressed by Michael B. Jordan’s ability to take on such different roles, and it feels like now, with all the attention he’s getting from Sinners, he’s really getting to showcase that range. He just finished Swapped, and I’m really excited about his next project, a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair coming out in 2027. It’s a completely different vibe – a romantic heist movie – and it’s great to see him tackling such diverse characters while he’s at the peak of his career.
Because Swapped is so different from Sinners, it’s likely a smart move. Had Michael B. Jordan starred in a similar action or horror film right after Sinners, it would have inevitably drawn a lot of comparisons. This way, Swapped avoids that issue.
With how well-received and popular Sinners has been, it would have been difficult for any other film to measure up. That’s why the upcoming release of Swapped is probably a good thing. We’re hoping the 2026 film showcases its actors’ abilities and joins the list of successful animated movies we’ve seen this year, alongside hits like Goat and Hoppers.
