Michael B Jordan wins Best Actor at the Oscars as Timothée Chalamet suffers third straight loss

The race for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars was incredibly tight, but Michael B. Jordan ultimately won, thanks to a strong finish. This is Jordan’s first Oscar win, and it came with his very first nomination. The film Sinners had a successful night overall, taking home four awards.

Timothée Chalamet was initially the frontrunner, having won at the Critics’ Choice and Golden Globe awards. However, his chances decreased in recent weeks after losing to Robert Aramayo at the BAFTAs and to Jonathan Majors at the Actor Awards.

Jordan’s win at the Actor Awards made him a strong contender for the Oscars, as the two awards often align. However, history shows this isn’t always true – last year, Timothée Chalamet won the Actor Award but lost at the Oscars to Adrien Brody. This marks Jordan’s third consecutive loss, following his defeat for Best Actor for Call Me by Your Name as well.

When accepting his Oscar, Jordan honored the Black actors who had previously won the award.

He acknowledged the actors who paved the way for him, naming Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, and Will Smith.

I’ll continue to improve and be my best if you continue to support me.

The most memorable part of Jordan’s speech came right at the beginning. After walking on stage and receiving applause, he paused before speaking to spot his mother in the crowd and playfully said, “Hey Mom, how’s it going?”

Not only did Chalamet lose the Oscar for the third year in a row, but the night was a complete disappointment for Marty Supreme, who didn’t win any of their nine nominations.

It was really only in Best Actor that it stood a chance though, so it’s not too much of a surprise.
