Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld & Cast Spill Shocking Secrets at Sinners World Premiere!

2025 has seen wide acclaim for the movie “Sinners”, a musical thriller that’s been highly praised by both fans and critics. This gripping tale is the creation of Ryan Coogler, known for his work on blockbusters like “Creed” and “Black Panther”. The film takes viewers on a chilling vampire adventure through the American south in the 1930s, where blues music and its eerie supernatural elements start to flourish.

Michael B. Jordan maintains Ryan Coogler’s pattern of collaboration, featuring in all of the director’s projects since their debut with “Fruitvale Station”. Apart from Jordan, Coogler introduces newcomers such as Hailee Steinfeld, Omar Miller, Delroy Lindo, Miles Caton and others to the intriguing cast of this box-office hit.

At the world premiere of “Sinners,” ScreenRant had a chat with Jordan, Steinfeld, Miller, Caton, and others, revealing some fascinating insights into the making of “Sinners.

Michael B. Jordan’s Return To Acting Following Directorial Debut

“It made me pay attention a lot more…”

On this Coogler set, Michael B. Jordan was not an unfamiliar face, but he brought a fresh outlook to the production. This is because Sinners will be his first acting gig since he directed and starred in Creed III, which hit screens in 2023.

When asked about his acting after returning to being in front of the camera following his directing experience, Jordan replied, “Being a director gave me a new perspective. It made me more attentive and empathetic towards my fellow actor, Ryan, during our scenes. I could sense what he needed at any given moment and tried to support him as much as possible.

Just as Jordan possesses a knack for viewing scenarios from a directorial standpoint, Steinfeld demonstrates a keen ear for music. Over the course of her acting journey, she’s also been actively involved in the music industry, releasing numerous songs that have achieved multi-platinum status during the past ten years.

Steinfeld expressed that music has always held a significant place in her life, and she felt deeply appreciative when there was so much discussion about it. She further added that being an actor, music has always been an integral aspect of who she is.

While she does lend her voice to some ensemble tunes, Steinfeld is without a solo song in Sinners.

When asked if the idea of her singing had ever been discussed, Steinfeld replied, “It never even occurred to me.” She went on to express her gratitude for being able to work with the score, soundtrack, and all the musical elements surrounding her performance, stating that they greatly influenced her acting.

Sinners’ Revolutionary Musical Sequence Used Movie Magic

“They put that thing together seamlessly…”

In the heart of “Sinners”, it’s Miles Caton’s Sammie “Preacher Boy” Moore who takes center stage during its musical scenes. The moment Sammie strums his guitar in Club Juke, a spectral symphony unfolds – ancient spirits from forgotten eras to modern-day breakdancers all join in the crescendo. It’s a breathtaking display of Sammie’s unique ability to bridge past and present with nothing but his music.

On that remarkable day, Caton vividly recalls, he woke up filled with anticipation. For weeks prior, he had been meticulously preparing for that specific scene. As he rose on that day, he exclaimed to himself, “Here it is! This is the scene where Sammie demonstrates his true talent!” With a sense of determination, he focused and gave his utmost effort. Indeed, that scene was extraordinary, as it brought together much of the cast, making the atmosphere electric. We all had a fantastic time during its filming.

The entire Club Juke sequence flows seamlessly across the screen, giving the impression of a single continuous shot, thanks to Ryan Coogler skillfully using cinematic techniques.

Omar Miller shared an interesting fact about “Black Panther”: despite appearing seamless, the iconic scene was actually made up of multiple shots. He praised director Ryan Coogler and cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw, along with the editors, for their outstanding technical work on the film, which he described as exceptional and truly unique from a technical standpoint.

For the first time, I’m collaborating with Ryan, and I genuinely hope it won’t be our last project together. I have nothing but praise for him. He’s an exceptional team player who never lets his talent overshadow others. There’s no trace of ego, and it always feels like we’re working alongside each other rather than under his supervision. As a creative artist, he fosters an environment where you feel secure to express your ideas freely. Many of the improvisations I came up with ended up in the final film.
