Metallica announce first Australian tour in more than a decade

As a die-hard Metallica fan who has been through the trials and tribulations of their musical journey, hearing about their long-awaited return to Australia is like a dream come true! I still remember watching them at the 2013 Soundwave festival, feeling the raw energy that only a Metallica concert can deliver. The memories of James Hetfield’s powerful guitar riffs and Lars Ulrich’s thunderous drumming still echo in my ears.

Legendary metal band Metallica is set to perform in Australia during their M72 world tour, which will be their first concerts there in over a decade.

In November 2025, the popular group famed for songs like Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman will be giving five live performances in cities including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.

The rockers are set to have Evanescence join them, famous for “Bring Me To Life” and “Going Under”, along with Suicidal Tendencies, recognized for their iconic track “Institutionalized”.

The upcoming tour will represent the first visit of Metallica to Australian coastlines since their performance at the 2013 Soundwave Festival, during which they were the headlining act alongside Linkin Park and Blink-182.

After cancelling an Australian stadium tour in 2020, the band’s frontman and rhythm guitarist, James Hetfield, completed a rehabilitation program due to substance addiction.

It’s likely that many of you are aware: Our brother James has battled addiction periodically for quite some time now. (This sentence maintains the original meaning but uses more contemporary language to express it.)

‘He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.

‘We plan to visit your location once our health and schedules align. As soon as we have definite plans, we’ll be sure to keep you informed.’

Next year on November 1, the band will perform at Perth’s Optus Stadium, followed by Adelaide Oval on November 5, then Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on November 8, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on November 12, Accor Stadium in Sydney on November 15, and finally Eden Park in Auckland on November 19.

The official website for Accor Stadium has announced that the renowned “Snake Pit” area will be featured during the entire tour, allowing fans to actively participate in the concert and offering an up-close view of the band, as stated on Metallica’s own site.

Meeting and greeting sessions are planned as well. But for those truly devoted fans, there’s the option to buy a ticket labeled “I Disappear”.

The ticket allows fans to attend all six Aussie and New Zealand shows.

According to Accor Stadium, travel deals encompassing both tickets and lodging are set to be offered in four out of the six cities as well.

The world tour kicked off in April 2023 following the release of their latest album 72 Seasons.

The band’s debut album, “Kill ‘Em All,” launched in 1983, boasts powerful tracks like “Jump In The Fire” and “Whiplash.” Yet it was their 1986 release, “Master Of Puppets,” that solidified them as the undisputed rulers of metal.

Pre-sales for Australian and New Zealand shows will start next week! The Vodafone and CommBank Yello Mastercard pre-sale kicks off on October 30, followed by the Live Nation pre-sale on November 1. Finally, both general sale and Westfield Reserve sale will be available starting November 4.
