Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Video Reveals the True Identity of Eva’s Voice Actor
As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the trenches of countless gaming generations, I can say with confidence that the revelation about Eva’s voice actor has left me utterly astounded and slightly starstruck! Who would have thought that the sultry voice behind Eva, the enigmatic love interest in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, was none other than Ariel from The Little Mermaid? It’s like finding out that your favorite villain in a gritty action game is actually the sweet librarian who helped you with homework in high school!
As a devoted fan, I’m on the edge of my seat, anticipating the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (with Konami yet to confirm anything past 2024). Today, we were treated to a new ‘Legacy Series’ video, and it has finally revealed the real-life voice behind the captivating character of Eva – Naked Snake’s love interest and the enigmatic femme fatale whose outfit seems to have a malfunctioning zip.
It was revealed upon its initial release in 2004 that Suzetta Miñet, who was credited for the game, was actually a pseudonym used by Jodi Benson, an actress known for her roles such as Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid (1989), Barbie in Toy Story movies, and Thumbelina in the movie of the same name.
In the latest video conversation, David Hayter (Snake voice actor) talks with his Eva counterpart who clarified that the name change was recommended, to avoid any confusion with her more family-friendly roles. She put it this way: “Many of the projects I’m associated with professionally tend to be family or children-oriented.” Kris Zimmerman Salter, our voice director, suggested the name change during a discussion with me.
According to Benson, it was decided that the name ‘Suzetta Miñet’ would be given to her, inspired by her childhood dog named ‘Suzette Monet’. Salter proposed using ‘Miñet’ instead of ‘Monet’. “I thought, why not go with Miñet?”, said Salter. To which Benson replied, “That sounds like a good idea”.
Here it is in a more conversational style: Isn’t that interesting? The voice acting talent behind Ariel from The Little Mermaid is the one who gave Eva her voice. You wouldn’t have guessed that, right? The upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will keep all its original audio when it releases for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. However, we don’t know exactly when Konami plans to launch it yet.
