Met Gala Ban List: The A-Listers Who Got Snubbed or Banned From Fashion’s Biggest Night

Tonight is one of the grandest events on the annual Hollywood calendar, with celebrities strutting down the crimson carpet, showcasing their most lavish and extravagant designer attire.

Tonight, we’re witnessing an array of fabulous fashion choices, ranging from the Kardashians to Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, and Zendaya – quite a stylish lineup!

While some notable figures won’t be showing up and others have decided to decline, it’s not mandatory for everyone to attend the event happening in New York on Monday evening. Some high-profile individuals have been barred from the occasion, while others have chosen to stay away.

As per biographer Amy Odell, influential host Anna Wintour exerts control over all elements of the guest list, having the final say on who is considered “in” or “out.

Since the year 2022, Kanye West has not received an invitation, as the organizer of the Met Gala, Anna Wintour, made a commitment not to collaborate with him anymore following his controversial remarks about antisemitism.

Before that, he was regularly the captain of Met Gala events, with his most recent attendance happening in 2019, alongside his then-spouse, Kim Kardashian.

Previously, it appeared as though he hinted at possibly disrupting the Met Gala 2025 when he unveiled a drawing to X featuring an individual dressed in gloves and boots.

At the Grammys, Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori generated global controversy as she walked the red carpet wearing a sheer nude mesh gown sans undergarments.

Lately, Radar Online suggested that Anna has taken the situation seriously following a tip-off from an inside source who said, “Anna means business. A detailed plan has been established if Kanye appears on the red carpet.

The attire isn’t everything; it’s more about the turbulence he creates. With the events at the Grammys in mind, everyone is being cautious now.

They added: ‘Anna has made it clear – no drama on her carpet.’

At the upcoming event, there are those who feel strongly that Donald Trump should not be invited, with certain cultural analysts suggesting that the event’s theme seems particularly poignant following his presidency.

Emil Wilbekin, an assistant professor in the Marketing Communication Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology, elaborated on the cultural importance of this year’s theme, expressing that it seems to represent a form of ‘rebellion’ or ‘standing up against.’

In the time of President Donald Trump and growing opposition to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), when civil rights advancements are being reversed, this exhibition, titled ‘Superfine’, emerges as a significant act of intellectual resistance. It’s a celebration that stands in stark contrast to the rollbacks, highlighting the very aspects that are being undone.

Anna personally verified that he had been excluded as early as 2017, sharing during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden that this individual was not someone she would ever extend an invitation to the Met Gala again.

Trump’s last appearance at The Met Gala with wife Melania was in 2012.

Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is opting out this year due to work commitments.

Every year since 1995, the actress, now 60, Sarah, has consistently attended the annual New York Fashion Event.

She informed Entertainment Tonight that, unfortunately, her schedule for this year doesn’t allow for the addition of this event. However, she’s excited about all the upcoming happenings and can’t wait to see everyone else’s work.

I’m eagerly looking forward to finding out how they will approach the topic and what kind of tasks they completed as part of their assignment.

There is also a question mark over Hailey and Justin Bieber’s attendance at this year’s Met Gala.

From 2017 to 2022, the model consistently graced the Met Gala every year. On the other hand, her spouse, Justin, made appearances at the event just twice: first in 2015 and more recently in 2021.

In the past few months, there have been growing worries about the singer’s wellbeing and potential substance abuse issues, as he’s been seen appearing emaciated and with tired, sunken eyes in public appearances.

It appears that it might not happen, but last year Hailey had assured she would show up, following her statement to her followers: “I won’t attend the Met Gala this year.

‘Gearing up for our next Rhode launch so decided to sit this one out but will be back next year.’

Last year, Demi Lovato showed up unexpectedly at an event, which was her first visit in nearly a decade.

In 2015, the performer openly discussed her difficult encounter that took place previously, as she revealed to Billboard in 2018, “It was really tough for me.

This well-known figure was notoriously difficult and unpleasant to interact with, creating an exclusive atmosphere. The experience was so awkward that it left me feeling uneasy, leading me to yearn for a calming beverage.

She openly acknowledged that she headed directly from the Gala to an AA gathering, explaining: “I switched outfits, but I was still adorning millions of dollars’ worth of diamonds – yes, in an AA meeting.

In that gathering, I found a stronger connection with those less fortunate individuals who share my life challenges, rather than the attendees of the Met Gala – they seemed more pretentious and overly focused on the fashion world.

Amy Schumer’s remarks about the Met Gala have not led to a ban, yet it is evident that she expresses her disapproval towards the event.

In her interview with Howard Stern back in 2016, the actress expressed that it’s essentially fake interactions being presented as genuine dialogue.

I disapprove of this charade… It seems we’re all wearing ridiculous outfits. Frankly, I find it distasteful. To be honest, I couldn’t care less about fashion trends.

American author Tim Gunn was banned from the Met after he confirmed the rumours in 2016.

He stated emphatically that the tale was indeed accurate. In his opinion, it was an extraordinary narrative, yet he considered it to be a straightforward account.

I was questioned about the most memorable fashion moment I’ve experienced, to which I responded, “That’s simple. It was witnessing Anna Wintour being escorted down five stories by two burly security guards from a fashion show.

‘All hell broke loose. It was insane. We’ve had an open war ever since.’

Gwyneth Paltrow also made some pointed comments about her time at the Met Gala back in 2013.

She shared with Kyle and Jackie O Show that she found it disappointing and it appeared as if it was the pinnacle of the world, but upon arriving, it turned out to be overwhelmingly hot, overcrowded, and everyone was jostling her. It seemed far from the glamorous and amazing experience she had imagined, filled with celebrities.

‘I think we’re all a bit old to dress up punk.’

But the star returned in 2017 and 2019 suggesting she was willing to give it another go.

At the 2016 Met Gala, Zayn Malik was accompanied by his girlfriend at the time, Gigi Hadid; however, he expressed no desire for a repeat of that event, given their current separation.

In an interview with GQ back in 2018, he expressed that such events are no longer appealing to him. Preferring to spend his time productively at home rather than attending glamorous functions where he would wear costly attire and pose for photographs on the red carpet. For him, participating in self-promoting activities on the red carpet is not something he identifies with.
