Overwatch Season 1 is launching on February 10th, and Blizzard has given players a sneak peek at the new mythic skins coming with it. This season, Mercy will receive a mythic hero skin, and Juno will get a mythic weapon skin. Later in the season, Mei will be getting her first-ever mythic hero skin. However, some players have expressed disappointment with how these mythic skins are being released.
Overwatch Season 1 mythic skins
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that each season of Overwatch in 2026 will include two new, highly detailed mythic hero skins. The first season will introduce skins for Mercy and Mei, and later seasons will add new mythic skins for Illari, Mauga, and Soldier: 76.
Future seasons will include more legendary weapon skins, similar to Juno’s Star Shooter from Season 1. These new skins will be available for Genji, Hanzo, and Sojourn.
Overwatch gets another Mercy mythic skin
Mercy actually already has a mythic skin called Vengeance Mercy. It was released in Overwatch 2 Season 10, before Blizzard removed the “2” from the game’s name and started the season count over.
The announcement of a new Mercy mythic skin has sparked mixed reactions. Some players are excited, but others feel it’s unfair that Mercy is receiving a second one before heroes like Lucio, Brigitte, and Venture have even gotten their first. Many users on X voiced concerns about this perceived imbalance.
Similar feelings were shared on Reddit. User -ImJustSaiyan- wrote, “It’s a good skin, but it feels unfair that Mercy is getting a second mythic skin when so many other characters haven’t received one yet.” They added that they actually enjoy playing Mercy.
More Overwatch Season 1 skins
Overwatch is adding new skins inspired by Hello Kitty and friends! Players can look forward to Hello Kitty-themed looks for Juno, Kuromi for Widowmaker, Keroppi for Lucio, Pompompurin for Mercy, Cinnamoroll for Kiriko, and My Melody for D.Va.
Overwatch players are always excited about new skins, and Blizzard’s artists have been working on a lot this year. With the start of Season 1 and the ‘Reign of Talon’ event, players can expect skins themed around different factions. There will also be cosmetic bundles inspired by moods and occasions, like rainy days and Valentine’s Day.
Overwatch is updating its rewards system, and soon players will be able to earn older skins – those previously available in the shop over the last six seasons – through loot boxes.
Besides collaborations and special mythic skins, players can also unlock DokiWatch-themed character skins, according to artist Melissa Kelly.
Here’s a sneak peek at the skins coming in the Season 1 Battle Pass for 2026 Overwatch! They’ll be available for Tracer, Genji, Sojourn, Vendetta, Emre, Moira, and Mauga.
