According to Merab Dvalishvili, it’s not Umar Nurmagomedov who should get the next shot at the UFC title; instead, he believes that Deiveson Figueiredo is more deserving. “Deiveson Figueiredo should fight for the belt,” Dvalishvili stated to MMA Junkie. “He defeated one former champion in this weight class and one title challenger, as well as Rob Font. Given that Figueiredo was a previous champion and has a well-known name, he deserves the opportunity.

Before Merab has even claimed the UFC title, he’s already mapping out his strategy for his initial title defense. This could indicate an extraordinary level of self-assurance or a lack of focus on the impending fight. While Merab is often spot-on in his assessments, I don’t believe Figueiredo should be his first opponent. It’s astonishing to consider that ONE Championship would ask someone to lose nearly 40 pounds in short notice, let alone take away their title under such circumstances. This situation seems utterly incredible and disorganized.

It’s been speculated that Conor McGregor could enter the realm of Irish politics at some point; however, transitioning directly from a UFC fighter to the President of Ireland seems quite improbable. I find it hard to imagine him securing victory, especially if he decides to officially run for office.
