Mel’s Rebuttal turns the tides of battle

Discussions have ignited on various digital platforms following Mel’s debut in League of Legends, as he boasts an extraordinary skill to counterattack and send projectiles straight back at his opponents.

In just a handful of days, information about the forthcoming LoL champion destined for Summoner’s Rift has surfaced, with Mel Medarda stepping into the role once held by her mother, Ambessa.

Mel’s exceptional talents have become quite the topic among the community, with one of her capabilities enabling her to mirror skills back to their originator if timed accurately. Although many abilities make perfect sense, like Caitlin or Ashe’s ultimate abilities, some are rather mysterious and appear strange when mirrored.

Mel’s Rebuttal has some brilliant interactions

Vandiril, a renowned League of Legends bug finder and content creator, swiftly recorded all instances involving Mel’s ability known as “Rebuttal” and its interactions during gameplay.

In the game, while other shields deflect spells, Mel’s special ability operates differently by occasionally reflecting powerful spells and skills back at their original casters. In this video from Vandiril, you can observe each ability’s interaction with Mel’s Counteraction.

Previously mentioned, numerous interactions occur with projectiles in League of Legends, as demonstrated in the video. Nevertheless, some interactions are particularly intriguing to observe, such as Pyke’s stun, which bounces off and stuns anyone within its vicinity. This unique interaction happens due to Pyke’s Phantom Undertow generating a projectile behind him that is then reflected by Mel’s Rebuttal.

One intriguing characteristic of a Rebuttal is its ability to showcase various skills in just a fleeting moment. Yet, if a skill persists beyond that instant, the damage will carry on – like Miss Fortune’s Bullet Time ultimate. There are numerous other amusing interactions, with Briar’s Certain Death ultimate being a standout example, sending Mel back to the casting champion.

For several days now, gamers have been trying out Mel on the Public Beta Environment (PBE), and it looks like when she officially launches on January 23rd, she’ll swiftly gain popularity in the mid-lane among fans. It’s still uncertain if she’ll make a rapid appearance in competitive play, but players can easily counter her since she lacks an escape skill, especially when playing as a Mage character.
