Filmmaker Paul Feig expresses a positive outlook about potentially working again with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham on a sequel to their popular 2015 action comedy. Known for starting his career as a stand-up comedian, minor actor in various productions, and co-creating the beloved TV series “Freaks and Geeks,” Feig gained more attention with the 2003 drama “I Am David.” Later on, he was brought on board to direct the comedy “Bridesmaids,” which marked the beginning of a significant collaboration with McCarthy.

After the success of “Bridesmaids,” where McCarthy garnered broad acclaim for her role as Megan Price, Feig and the actress teamed up again for a comedic film titled “The Heat.” In this movie, McCarthy played the character Shannon Mullins, a maverick Boston cop, alongside Sandra Bullock’s FBI agent Sarah Ashburn. Their partnership aimed at capturing a mobster. Later, they joined forces once more to revive the “Ghostbusters” franchise in its 2016 reboot, with McCarthy taking on the role of Abby Yates, one of the founding members of the new team. However, when her field partner is killed, she is thrust into action to solve his final case. Along the way, she comes across Rick Ford (Statham), a seasoned field agent with little faith in her abilities. Susan then attempts to infiltrate a secretive organization involved in nuclear weapons deals. The film proved to be financially successful and garnered positive reviews from both audiences and critics, ultimately earning a 95% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes for the compelling narrative provided by Feig and McCarthy’s captivating performance.
