Melanie Sykes reveals she has had her breast implants removed and is recovering from surgery – 14 years after getting the cosmetic procedure
As a fervent observer of the entertainment industry and its colorful denizens, I find myself intrigued by the saga of Gregg Wallace – a man who has traversed the realms of greengrocery and television stardom with equal aplomb.
In a recent YouTube video shared over the weekend, Melanie Sykes disclosed that she underwent the removal of her breast implants approximately two months prior.
In 2010, the TV host, aged 54 at that time, opted for a surgical procedure following her admission about feeling self-conscious regarding her breasts after giving birth to her sons, Roman (22 years old) and Valentino (20 years old).
But after a decade, Melanie decided to ditch her implants and embrace her natural body.
Melanie confessed that she experienced severe discoloration or swelling, which resulted from a complication during her pectoral muscle surgery.
She mentioned that she underwent the removal of her breast implants around two months ago, so she has been recuperating since then.
After the operation, the chest muscle encountered an issue, causing a prolonged healing period. There was extensive internal bruising present, but it’s improving with time.
However, I’ve been healing from that experience, and during this time, I’ve immersed myself in reading, painting, and even composing my own music. It’s been a form of therapy for me, similar to physical rehabilitation.
I’ve been flourishing quite well. However, due to my exceptional emotional perceptiveness, I feel deeply and intensely.
In 2012, Melanie shared with TopMob that having breast augmentation was one of the most rewarding decisions she’s made.
She said: ‘I had a boob job two years ago and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done. I wanted my boobs to look like they did in my heyday.
‘It’s a very personal decision and I don’t judge anybody for choosing to have plastic surgery.’
In the video, Melanie additionally expressed her thoughts during the continuing dispute between Gregg Wallace and the sexual misconduct allegations against him.
Previously, Melanie stated that interacting with Gregg on the BBC program in 2021 led her to depart from her career in television.
60-year-old Gregg has decided to leave the BBC program following accusations by 13 individuals, including Kirsty Wark of Newsnight, regarding inappropriate and sexually charged actions during production.
Over the span of 17 years, the allegations encompass various instances of questionable conduct. These involve wandering around a film set wearing only a sock over his private parts, making off-color jokes, and two separate accusations of unwanted touching towards production team members.
In a new YouTube video posted on Sunday Melanie did not directly address the Gregg situation when she spoke but referred to certain recent media reports.
Pondering her thoughts, she expressed: ‘Usually, I find myself lost in contemplation, feeling deeply moved and incredibly thankful for all the blessings in my life.’
‘But there are so many things as a human that are painful and difficult to listen to.
As I gaze upon the birds during mornings, their harmonious existence leaves me puzzled, for it seems so elusive among humans.
At certain points in my life, I choose not to interact with media stories at all. On other occasions, I find myself engaging due to my curiosity about current events.
In her book, “Illuminated,” published last year, Melanie discussed Gregg. More recently, she delved deeper into those comments in a video she uploaded to YouTube.
Mel stated that during their encounter on MasterChef, Gregg inquired whether models consume food, a question she perceived as unprofessional and tinged with ignorance and disrespect.
She added that the former grocer-turned-broadcaster delivered commands in a way that made her feel like walking off the program.
And Gregg apparently told her that appearing on his show would do a lot for her career prospects.
Instead of saying directly that she agreed while secretly deciding to end her TV career, she replied with a simple “yes,” yet inwardly pondered, “Yes, your assistance has indeed sealed the decision to conclude my television journey permanently.
Melanie expressed an unofficial grievance towards Wallace, stating that the behavior she witnessed on the MasterChef set left her astonished.
Melanie gained significant recognition for her role in the Boddingtons commercial during the 1990s and for co-hosting Today with Des and Mel in the early 2000s.
In her book, Melanie stated that the MasterChef competition remained a surprising and enlightening experience, and certain inappropriate actions observed on set were truly shocking.
In her latest YouTube video, she expressed that whenever Gregg visited the desk, she felt uncomfortable due to their energy interactions. It seems to be a matter of vibes and energy for her.
After wrapping up the production of the show, Melanie asserted that she had a short discussion with Gregg, which played a significant role in her departure from television.
It is not known who Melanie made an informal complaint about Gregg to.
Over the weekend, it became public knowledge that Gregg conceded defeat and acknowledged that his professional career might be at an end following an examination conducted by a production firm regarding accusations of sexual misconduct involving him, including inappropriate touching.
In October, Gregg firmly refuted allegations of making sexually inappropriate comments towards women. He emphasized that such behavior is not part of his character, stating clearly that he would never engage in flirting or making advances towards another woman and clarified that he had not made any sexual remarks.
According to a recent report from TopMob, it’s been shared by a source that Gregg has informed close companions that his television career is likely coming to a close.
They shared that Gregg appears thoughtful and practical regarding the investigation, and he feels he’s had a successful stretch in his career, considering he started as a simple greengrocer.
In 1989, Gregg established his independent fruit and veggie enterprise, which led to him being affectionately known as ‘Gregg the Veg’ by friends. He provided produce to eateries such as Quaglinos, where a young Australian chef named John was employed at that time.
This year, the scheduled Christmas episodes of MasterChef on BBC have been cancelled, and there are talks about pulling older shows that feature him because of the type of complaints they received.
TopMob reached out to the BBC for a response. However, Gregg’s team declined to comment when contacted by TopMob. (Paraphrased)
