Melanie Sykes Exposes TV Industry’s ‘Monsters’ in Scathing Criticism of Gino D’Acampo

Melanie Sykes has blasted Gino D’Acampo as she admitted ‘the industry has created monsters’.

Previously working alongside him, Melanie, Gino’s ex-co-host, called on television executives to acknowledge their role and address the alleged misconduct issues by removing any talent exhibiting misogynistic behavior. This comes in response to a string of accusations against the chef.

From 2011 to 2014, Melanie, aged 55, co-hosted ITV’s Let’s Do Lunch with Gino, who was 48 at the time. However, in 2021, she decided to retire from television permanently following an inappropriate comment made by Gregg Wallace, the now disgraced MasterChef host.

After spending 24 years in the tumultuous world of television, this mother of two expressed her thoughts: “Celebrity Juice was a disaster, the industry often breeds monstrosities.

I recall a time when Gino casually mentioned to me that he could simply approach those in authority without needing an appointment, he could just walk right in.

For twenty-four years, I found myself fighting relentlessly in an environment that felt more like a battlefield than a workplace – one that never truly resonated with my values or sense of purpose.

As someone who values order and fresh starts, my advice is this: If you find yourself constantly tidying up after others, perhaps it’s time to focus on cleaning your own space. Start with a thorough decluttering, then begin anew. That’s the essence of my message.

At present, Gino is confronted with multiple accusations involving behavior that some find inappropriate and intimidating, which apparently has been ongoing for about a dozen years.

One accusation points to an incident at a 2012 charity event where Gino is said to have kissed a footballer’s wife without her consent. Reportedly, he later declared to the audience, “I did that because I simply could.

The TV show “Celebrity Juice,” which aired on ITV and was led by the host Keith Lemon (age 51), ran successfully for 14 years until 2022. Frequent panel members included Holly Willoughby, Laura Whitmore, among others.

During their time on Celebrity MasterChef, Melanie faced comments from Gregg suggesting that being on the BBC show would significantly boost her career prospects as a TV presenter.

Melanie became extremely angry and decided to leave television permanently, as she refused to continue dancing to a tune set by companies that didn’t care about her welfare.

After over a dozen women alleged instances of sexually inappropriate behavior against him during his 17-year tenure working on TV sets, Gregg has been terminated by the BBC.

Melanie added: ‘There’s no secrecy. Some of this activity is taking place in private, but it’s all unfolding on television screens.’

When broadcasters claim, “It’s not our responsibility since it involves a production company,” it’s downright shocking.

Broadcasters who say, “It’s not our issue as it pertains to a production company,” are utterly dismaying.

According to reports, ITV is being urged to clarify their handling of accusations leveled at Gino following claims of inappropriate behavior towards him as a chef.

For about twelve years, Gino has faced more than forty accusations of sexually offensive and threatening conduct. However, he asserts his innocence regarding these charges.

In 2018, one woman asserted that she brought issues regarding Gino to ITV’s attention, but they failed to take action. Meanwhile, it’s been alleged that the team behind “This Morning” had expressed worries about him as far back as a decade ago.

Currently, there are reports suggesting that ITV is facing growing demands to clarify Gino’s behavior and justify why no additional measures were taken against him, as stated by The Sun.

In such cases, when ITV receives complaints or becomes aware of serious issues, they assure that they will thoroughly investigate the matter. If any inappropriate behavior is discovered, appropriate actions will be taken to address the situation.

After individuals voiced concerns about Gino’s reported actions, they claimed that ITV and other production companies fiercely defended the presenter out of concern for potential financial losses.

Gino strongly refutes the accusations leveled against him, stating they are “completely out of character” for him and finding them extremely distressing.

Previously, ITN (the producer of ITV News) shared that all issues and criticisms voiced to them depict actions as improper and unsuitable.

‘The majority of incidents weren’t brought to ITV’s attention initially, but when concerns have been expressed, appropriate actions have been taken.’
